Chapter 15

Yeon Seo was extremely annoyed. She was going to confront Taehyung but he had suddenly disappeared from school. There was no mention of his whereabouts. Despite that, she sent him countless messages telling him to take responsibility for his actions, none of which gained any response. Jimin had no choice but to keep the pregnancy but it was becoming really difficult for him to keep up. The weeks began to pass and his stomach started to get bigger. He began wearing baggy clothes to hide his shame but the whispers continued and soon rumors spread around about his  condition. There were those who were brave enough to confront him about their suspicions, pointing out his sudden weight gain but Jimin quickly dismissed them lying that he was ill. Despite this, the rumors continued added to the fact that Taehyung suddenly disappeared. People attributed it to him being ashamed. Jimin knew he couldn't hide forever. He was only too glad when exams came and went. Finally, he could stop being seen  in public where all eyes were on him.

Unfortunately, he had to continue to make ends meet. His mother had declared cold war on him leaving him on his own to fend for himself so he still had to keep working for Yoongi. The older was very understanding especially after finding out about his condition. He stopped every mean customer from trying to make fun of him after seeing his unusual protruding belly. One night after work, Yoongi noticed Jimin sitting on the veranda by himself hands buried under his chin. He looked the absolute picture of disillusionment and Yoongi felt sorry for him. He put aside the tables and chairs himself and went outside to meet him. Once he sat by his side, he wrapped one arm around his neck.

"What are you thinking of?"

"Everything! I feel like my life is over"

"What makes you think so?"

Jimin shrugged. "You know what I mean? How will I be able to face the world from now on"

Yoongi nodded. "I know. It's embarrassing but it's only for a short moment. You're facing a trying time but it's only temporary. Once you give birth, no one will know how you had your child. For now, just bear with it. I'll support you all the way"

Jimin sighed. "Thank you. I wish my mom where just as understanding. She's mad at me right now. We barely talk"

"She's a mother. She'll come around one day. Believe me"

Jimin didn't seem certain. "I hope so because I have dissapointed her so much. I don't know how to make her forgive me"

There was silence for a while until Yoongi spoke.

"And Taehyung, you still haven't been able to reach him?"

Jimin immediately faltered. "No...who knows he may be married to some rich heiress right now..."

"What a jerk. We can't let him be you know. It will be highly unfair to you"

" I want nothing to do with him. He's a part of my past I want to bury"

"But that will be difficult considering you both have a child together"

Jimin smiled smugly. "Yes it will but it's not impossible. I'll manage to forget him. I'll make sure he has no rights whatsoever to this child."

Yoongi quietly stared at him. "Do you know it's gender?"

"It's a boy. My doctor says he's very healthy"

Yoongi could see how much he was pretending to be strong. It was written all over him. He knew he was going to suffer a whole lot and life will get a whole lot difficult.

"It's okay. enough of sob stories. Let's take a stroll. You might need it" He said and Jimin decided to take him up on his offer.

On one of those rare occasions when Jimin and his mother shared the same air, they were sitting in the living room watching TV. Yeon Seo was scrolling through the stations murmuring under her breath about how there was nothing convenient to watch when all of a sudden, the sight of a couple caught their attention but it wasn't just the couple that caught their interest. It was the person standing beside them. Kim Taehyung.

Yeon Seo jerked up from the couch looking shocked as she pointed at the screen

"Isn't this Kim Taehyung? Your boyfriend that abandoned you?"

Jimin nodded slightly, eyes fixed on the screen.

"Yes" he murmured. It was Taehyung alright. It was his curly hair, his sharp eyes and that mouth I had thought didn't affect me anymore but it did. It still affected me and I felt a slight kick in my stomach. His presence must have affected our child too.

"Did you know he was a rich heir? His parents are CEOs to a large architectural company" His mother said. He nodded in response. He did know he was a rich kid but had never cared about that. The thought never once crossed his mind. Well until now. They were announcing Taehyung's upcoming marriage and in a way, he felt a little relieved that he wasn't married yet but then, regret came next. Regret that he was still somewhat hung up on him.

"Just look at them. Smiling and laughing. Not knowing the hell their son has put mine through"

She shook her head. "This cannot be! This can't happen! They must know. The whole world must know!" She yelled and stood up in a rage only to come tumbling down. Jimin was in the fifth month of his pregnancy so it wasn't easy for him to reach her immediately. She laid face down on the ground and no matter how much Jimin called out her name or shook her, she didn't budge. She lay there almost lifeless. Jimin immediately called emergency medical services and they quickly arrived and picked his mother up. He called Yoongi and he met up with him at the hospital. Lately, Jimin had been noticing his mother's failing health but he couldn't ask her about it because they weren't on speaking terms but now he was regretting it because whatever she had must have gotten so bad that she suddenly lost consciousness. The Doctor finally attended to them but he gave grave news. His mother had cancer. Ovarian cancer.

Jimin was flustered. He didn't speak for a full minute.

"Mr Park! Mr Park!" The Doctor called out to him but he didn't hear and dragged his feet away. He usually hid his face whenever he was in public. Eyes followed him everywhere but this time, he didn't care. He didn't care about the wagging tongues. He sat in the waiting room, head buried in thoughts. He didn't know how long he sat waiting in the room until Yoongi ran up to him.

"Why did you leave?"

"I couldn't stay there! I just can't"

There was silence and Jimin finally broke down.

"My mom is going to die. She's going to leave me just like my Dad did"

"No! She won't. Things aren't so bad now. She's at the second stage. If she could get surgery and chemotherapy she might survive"

"But how? I don't have any money. How will I manage to even pay her hospital bills"

"We'll find a way okay?" Yoongi tried to reassure him but he couldn't be comforted. Nothing could comfort him at that moment. His mother was unconscious through out the night so early the next morning, Jimin left the hospital to change his clothes and get some necessities for his mother. Yoongi offered to remain at the hospital and look after his mom while he went home. As he approached his house, he noticed a white expensive car parked close to the side walk. He had never seen such a classic vehicle in their neighborhood but he paid it no mind and pushed open his house gate only to find that it was open. He started to suspect a thief had broken into the house. slowly without raising any awareness, he stepped into the compound and found a familiar stranger waiting for him. It was a mature looking woman with an elegant appearance. Jimin cracked his head, wondering where he had seen this woman before.

The woman looked him up and down with an air of disdain.

"So it's true" she murmured.

"Excuse me. Who are you? You can't just barge inside someone's home ..."

"I apologise. The gate was open so I let myself in"

Jimin couldn't help feeling this person was familiar.

"You still haven't answered my question. Who are you and what do you want?"

A small smile tugged at the edges of the woman's lips.

"I am Kim Hee seol...Kim Taehyung's mother"

Jimin's breath hitched as the image he saw of her on TV stuck to his head. He was standing face to face with Kim Taehyung's mother. It could only mean one thing. Somehow, she had found out about the pregnancy. Things was going to take a drastic turn from now on.
