Gally pov
I scribbled a "NO" on a wrinkled piece of paper as the sun began rising. We cast our votes this morning to see if Wren is placed in the Box or not. She hasn't said much since that day. When I see her she gives me a faint smile from afar, but it never really reaches her eyes.
After the meeting a week ago, Alby ordered everyone to go about their days like nothing happened.
I heard Vincent campaigning his ideas to vote her out this whole week. It took all my inner strength to keep myself from punching him in his stupid shucking face. The last thing Wren needed to worry about was me getting banished. A familiar knock pulls me away from my thoughts. Her small face pokes itself into my room to see if I'm awake. Such big bags are under her eyes. One can tell she hasn't slept in days. There was a rumor traveling that some of the guys were thinking of grabbing her in the dead of night to put her in the Box. There was no real evidence, but we weren't taking chances. I volunteered to guard her but Alby said that there was enough going on. She didn't need any bad light on her at the moment. Minho and Alby guarded her all week.
I quickly rushed to pull her into my room and scooped her into my arms.
"Gally." Acting surprised.
"Slim it." I say as I lay us down in bed. "Try to sleep even for a bit. You can relax around me."
With no protest, she closed her eyes and was asleep in minutes.
As I looked down at Wren I remembered the fear she had in her eyes once her hoodie fell off on her first day. Who would have guessed she be in my arms sleeping like this? The night of the bonfire after I finished bandaging up her delicate hands. I remember drunkenly staring are her lips thinking if they were soft. They are so soft.
"Gally?" Minho enters my room. "They are casting the votes in a bit." He says as he leans on the door. He looks down at Wren sleeping. "So what do we do?"
"About what?"
"If they vote her out."
"They won't."
"Gally fear drives people to make rash decisions. I hope they don't, but what if they do? We need a plan."
"There won't be a plan." Wren's groggy voice interrupted us."A vote is a vote. I will follow the decision everyone makes."
"Wren you - " a soft kiss cuts me off.
"I love you, Gally. So so so much." She gets up slowly and steals a long sleeve from the foot of my bed. "I'll wear this just in case."
She slips into it. Then she goes over to Minho giving him a tight hug. "Thanks for everything."
"Wren, why does it feel like you're saying goobye?" Minho says hugging her back.
"Because I am." She says into his chest.
"Well you're gonna look dumb after they don't vote you out." He chokes out with tears streaming down his face while he forces a smile.
"Laugh at me then." She pulls away heading out of the door. "See you guys around the bonfire."
Minho wipes his tears away and heads out.
I stayed, looking down at the empty spot where Wren was just lying in thinking how I couldn't remember the last time I was so scared.
