chapter eight

Dinner was going smooth and nice. Though after what had happened, June was a little uncomfortable and May wasn't helping at all. She kept giving June the 'I told you look'.

June was still flabbergasted. Alex's words were still ringing in her thoughts.
Be my girlfriend,june...

Just the thought alone had her flushed up. Alex was a good guy. And it didn't help that he was gorgeous and so damn hot. June knew she was attracted to him but after what had happened with Jake,she needed some time to get over the hurt. That was why she was there spending time with her sister. She hadn't planned on meeting Alex.

She looked up at him,he sat opposite her,eating gracefully from across the table. He didn't even look guilty about being caught in the act. Wasn't it illegal to look so appetizing while eating?

As though hearing her thoughts,he looked up and locked eyes with her. Then he gave her that dangerous grin and winked at her.
June blushed more and turned her focus to her plate as though it was the most mesmerizing thing ever.

Then his phone rang and all eyes turned to him.He answered.

"Hello? Who?" He looked a little confused,trying to search his memory. Then his face lit up." Oh Barbra? From the club?"

June's insides clenched at the thought of the beautiful blonde. The one who had caught everyone's attention at the club and had danced perfectly with Alex.
She locked eyes with May.

"Who's Barbra?" May's eyes seemed to ask. June replied with a shrug.

"Excuse me" Alex said and then left the table.

It was the proper thing to do but June couldn't help but feel perturbed at the idea of him speaking with the blonde alone. She had to control herself from leaving the dinning too and eavesdropping on their conversation. May looked like she was considering the same thing but instead turned her attention at June.

"Who's Barbra?" She whispered beside her.But June just replied her with a shrug.

It was a good Ten minutes before Alex returned,not that June was counting or anything.

"Um...I have to head out for a bit. But I'll be back soon" Alex says. He places his plate in the sink and then leaves.

June was not happy at all. So, Barbra calls him and he goes answering? Seriously? He should have  asked her to be his girl not her.

Even May noticed her change in mood and gave her some space. June chewed angrily at her food.
Stupid stupid me for believing him! For hoping for more.
Her past with guys should have opened her eyes. Even if a guy picks interest in you, they'll be giving that same interest to blond Barbie immediately she arrives.

It was really hard to find guys like Jay. May was truly blessed.

May and her husband tried to distract her. They had watched movies to Lighten the atmosphere. June tried to focus on the movie but it was getting late and Alex wasn't back. She kept imagining scenes that made her heart ache. What else would a guy and a lady be doing so late at night?

When it was past eleven,May and Jay decided to retire to their bedroom. It was late and they needed an early start tomorrow.

"Are you really ok with waiting up for him?" May had asked her worried.

"It's ok. Someone needs to" June replied. "And am not really tired "

"Ok well good night".

June was left alone on the living room. She paced around a bit watching the time at it got really late. Then she got more worried. What if something bad had happened to him? Like an accident or being robbed.

She tried calling him, several times but he didn't answer. She sat down to calm herself. She had to believe he was ok. Nothing bad could really happen. Maybe he was too occupied to pick up.
Yeah with Barbra...  Her logic spoke.

June boiled with anger when she recalled how he'd left after the call. Now here she was unable to sleep because of him...
So annoying!

June had just stepped out of the shower when she heard the bell. She tied her towel around her and went into her room. It was already past one in the morning...it had to be Alex at the front door.

The bell rang again and she went to the front door to answer. She didn't even peer through the peep hole before unlocking the door. Thankfully it was just Alex, looking handsome and tired.

"Hey" he said with a slow smile.

June stepped aside so he could enter. She shivered as the cool night air kissed her exposed skin. That was when she remembered that she was only on a towel.

She flushed and quickly locked the door. Alex came out of the kitchen with a glass of water in his hand. She ignored him and proceeded to her room.

"June wait!" He called after her but she kept going.

She was almost at her door when she felt his warm hand around her arm. He pulled her back to face him. The glass of water was gone. His eyes searched hers for a bit. He must have found what he was looking for because his expression grew worried.

"What? Am tired and I need to sleep. I did wait Five hours for someone who I wasn't sure was coming back!" She meant to play it cool but she was angry and there was nothing cool about the situation.

"Let me explain what happened- " he started to say but June wasn't having any of it.

"You don't have to explain anything to me. It's not like we're dating or anything... You went to see Barbra, and for whatever reason I don't care!-" ok that was a lie. She did care a lot. "- you don't really have to explain anything. If you feel sorry for making me stay up or for not  answering your calls... then apologize. I don't need your explanations!"
She jerked his hand off her and then turned to walk away. Only she was pulled back. His arms around her waist this time pulling her flushed up against his chest. Shamefully, her nipples hardened against his chest and June struggled against him, trying to free herself. She pushed back and away with her palm pressing against his deliciously hard and we'll muscled chest.

This was not the time to think of his delicious muscles or how hard he could be in other places. June flushed red and pushed harder away.

"June stop!" He said to her but she was too stubborn to listen.

And she should have listened cause the next thing she knew, her towel loosened and fell away at her feet.

She was NAKED! And in front of him!

I wonder how Alex feels or what he'd been doing for five straight hours.
