Another three years had passed. I was shocked to hear that my role would be changing once again. I was taught the ways of the Noble to the best of King Lunair's ability, up until he left to investigate some border troubles toward the Cur'Nir star system. Anna had been preparing to start at the Academy's preschool, spending less time away from me.
As for myself? Well, now that I'm seven years old, I had to prepare for school myself. Mother and Father were having trouble finding a school that they could afford that was also nearby. I had tried learning to ride dragonback to extend that range, and ease their hardship but, I was having some. . . Compatibility issues with the training dragons.
"Sister?" Anna called from the doorway.
"Yes, Anna?"
"Mother wants to know if you've prepared for tonight's gathering."
Tonight's gathering. . . Tonight's gathering! Of course, how could I forget? Tonight was Anna's celebration party for her acceptance into the Academy. Even if it was only preschool, it was still an impressive feat, especially for a Princess we all thought would lack the necessary education.
"Oh. Tell The Queen th-"
"Mother"
"Tell Mother that I will be down in a bit."
Mother and Queen Lunair had come to an agreement on both being a Mother figure to Anna and myself. It got confusing at times so I still referred to Queen Lunair as "Her Majesty" or "Queen Lunair". Mother was busier these days, helping to ease the hardships of those living in the slums, I did too. I continued to make tools when I wasn't studying and I baked various pastries that Mother would take to the slums.
I'd put on my blue and red dress, the same one from three years ago, before going to see Queen Lunair. Now that I was stronger, I was allowed to clothe myself. Tonight's party was a bug one for myself, not just my little sister. Nobles from all stretches of the federation's territory would attend to celebrate Anna's acceptance into the Academy but, that wasn't why it was bug for me. For me, it would mark my first show as Lead Singer, or rather, I would be doing this show solo.
"Alright, this is, Myri." I told myself, beyond nervous for tonight's show.
I bolted down the halls to the elevator, slipping and falling flat on my face just as the doors opened. When I got up, Anna stood inside, disappointment written all over her face.
"Sister. I know you're lonely, but the floor?" She said teasingly
"It looked like it needed a kiss. I was merely being a good hostess." I retorted.
We both laughed as I stood up. Sister and I had always messed with each other like this, finding hilarity in each other's misfortune. We entered the elevator and headed down to the throne room, where Her Majesty awaited our arrival.
"Myribel. There has been a slight change of plans."
"There has?"
"Lurie has fallen ill. We will need you to take her place."
"I see. And what of her guard duties?"
The Queen was silent. Given Mother's worried look, I would take over that as well. I recently learned that the song I learned when I was younger could stop time around me. . . For a time. Chronostasis, as I'd decided to call it, would prove invaluable tonight. As I pondered what I would do should something happen, I hadn't a clue what surprises awaited me.

The party was going well. I carried food and drink to the nobles alongside the other Maids.
