"My. . . magic?" I repeated.

Lady Stewart nodded, "Your magic is quite unique and powerful. With proper cultivation, it could even save us all."

"Lady Stewart. . . you speak as though you know about it. . .?"

"There exists an ancient tome, known only to Us. It speaks of an ancient Witch, the only other known being with the power of song."

I had a feeling that I knew where this was going. This Witch became hungry for or consumed by power, did some horrible things, and became known as the "Witch of Calamity". I was close enough once I heard what had actually happened.

"She started off much like you did, but she soon became consumed by power, narrowly destroying the world. This Witch, who had come to be known as the "Songstress of Destruction," was defeated several millenia ago, however. . ." Lady Stewart paused for a moment, as if she remembered something horrible at the mention of the Witch. "Her creatures still roam the land, sea, and air to this very day."

Now I see why I was told to keep this power hidden. I called upon the Grimoire I'd found and started to look through it again.

"Studying other magic, Lady Myribel?" Lady Stewart said suddenly, making me jump.

"Huh? Oh! Yes, I thought it would be best if I studied Dark Magic, since I am a demon." I responded.

"My son, Soaran, can help you learn. He doesn't have an affinity for either Dark or Blood magics, but he is no less an excellent caster in both."

"Is that so? Perhaps I will ask him, then." I'd replied.

Lady Stewart went on to explain a bit more regarding my studies after calling Karina into the room. I'd spend the remainder of my stay preparing for the entrance exam, namely the "Combat Placer." The placer itself consisted of two facets, each further separated into three stages. The first facet tested the examinee's physical prowess against one of the instructors. The first stage tested one's ability to move and control their body. Stage two measured the examinee's knowledge of martial arts, while the final stage tested one's weapon knowledge and discipline. That was the first facet, the second revolved around magic. The first stage simply measured a student's mana capacity. The second stage tested the student's control over their magic, while the final stage would test a student's application of those skills in combat. Of course the Combat Placer wasn't the only part of the exam. To actually get into the school, students have to score an 80 or higher average on all the written tests, with 95 or higher guaranteeing that student a spot in the school, regardless of societal rank.

History was going to a struggle for me, since I didn't know anything about this world's history, let alone Lunaria's specifically. Karina was tasked with helping me with that. I thanked Lady Stewart for her aid and headed off, meeting up with Karina in the guest room, where she greeted me ecstatically, nearly dropping the teapot she had in her hands.

"Lady Myribel!"

"I told you, just call me 'Myribel', Rina." I said, chuckling.

"Right, forgive me. So, how did it go?"

"You were outside for the majority of it, were you not?"

"I know, but I wanna hear your side of it! I'll finish pouring the tea."

I took a seat while Karina finished pouring the tea and began explaining what all the talk entailed.

"Wow, you have a lot to do, Myri."

"Do not remind me. I'd rather not think about that now." I'd snapped, only half serious.
