Nightmare Redemption

Chapter 1 - Let the Nightmare Begin

[Three years later...]

Six went back to the place she never thought she'd go back to, yet the air was so foul with the smell of the city. 

"Coming here was a bad idea" she mumbled to herself, "But it does bring back memories." Six reminisced of the memories of her and Mono, but they were only hurting her more.

 "Awe, it's kind of cute that you still miss him," her shadow counterpart remarked, 

"It's none of your concern, shadow" she snapped back as the shadow giggled in its glitching and distorted voice. 

"You can't get rid of me even if you tried, and even if you did, you'd feel hollower than you were before," it had a point, but she didn't need to nor want to boost its ego. She kept walking up the sandy beach that she remembered from coming here long ago, but Six didn't let that stop her. "Give it a rest, Sasha, you're only going to disappoint yourself," her shadow self said, trying to persuade her to stop searching as it had for years, "He's long gone, and probably got eaten by the signal tower by now." 

Six tried not to think of that possibility and tried not to wince at the mention of the signal tower. That fleshy being that had turned her into a monster for a short while, she would have stayed in that form if Mono didn't save her, that was one more reason to return the favor. 

She decided to go the same route that she and Mono took when they were both 9, almost three years ago. She ignored her shadow's concerns and pleadings to not go further, for she knew what had to be done. "Come on Six, we shouldn't go any further, we should turn back!" her shadow said in a distorted nervous tone as if it knew something was going to happen, 

"And what if I don't, what're you gonna do about it?" Six said to her shadow, she was getting annoyed by its constant yapping. Yet she was stuck with it, whether she liked it or not, she kept ignoring the shadow's words until they reached their destination...
