Vivienne's POV:
Sam was persuading me to go to some party tonight which was being hosted by a football player. But nerds and parties don't really mix and I wasn't too fond of being in a room which smelled of alcohol and sweat, and full of horny teenagers grinding on each other while I was struggling to breathe as there simply wasn't enough oxygen in there for everyone.
"Come on Viv! Let loose a little! I promise the sky won't break if you ditch studying for one night and come to the party with me. It will be a fun experience and I'll be right by your side the whole time!", Sam explained whilst making hand gestures.
"But Sam all I am going to do there is follow you around like a lost puppy. Parties are for people like you to have fun, not to babysit people like me— who don't even belong there."
"Bullshit. Parties are for anyone who wants to party. Now please come with me!"
I knew there was no way to win against Sam when she was hell bent on something, which right now was to drag me to this party. So instead of prolonging the end of this debate, I chose to give in and for the first time in my life, go to a party.
Sam did a little victory dance and immediately rushed to my closet to find me an outfit. Her hands were working in a frenzy, sliding all the hangers around and digging through my drawers to find a party-appropriate outfit. After a good ten minutes, she put together an outfit for me. She had chosen a pair of black denim shorts with a greyish-white patterned cami top. To top it, she picked out a black leather jacket which I honestly don't remember how ended up in my closet. And last but not least, a pair of black chelsea boots. It would be a big fat lie if I were to say that I wasn't envious of her fashion sense. She lightly pushed me into the bathroom so I could change into what she had just picked out for me.
As I stepped out of there, still trying to pull my shorts down so they would cover a little bit more of my skin, I heard Sam verbally gasp.
"You look drop dead gorgeous! Everyone will be stunned on seeing the school nerd looking so hot!", she exclaimed.
I couldn't keep myself from smiling on receiving the compliment. Sam took a few steps towards me and slightly readjusted my outfit. She pulled my hair out of the messy bun it was in, and styled it into a half up half down hairstyle. Then she pulled down one arm of my jacket so that it was off my shoulder and lastly swatted my hands which were pulling down the shorts. As I thought she was done, she took my glasses off and seated me in front of the mirror. Passing me my contacts which I wore very rarely, she motioned with her hands for me to put them in and I obliged.
I took in my appearance in the mirror and the Vivienne looking back at me appeared so different yet just like me. She looked confident and carefree. Like nothing could stop her from having the time of her life tonight. I could see Sam looking at me from the corner of my eye so I turned around to face her.
She pretended to wipe fake tears off her cheeks and dramatically said, "I feel like a proud momma" to which I just laughed in response.
As I stepped downstairs, I saw my mom's jaw drop down on the floor. To say she was was shocked to see me all dolled up to go a party would be an understatement. It took her a good 3 minutes to come back to her sense while I stood by a giggling Sam.
"You convinced her to go to a party?! Finally!! I didn't think I would live to see this day and I am not even joking when I say this", my mom exclaimed. And I agreed with her because I hadn't expected myself to go to a party either, not anytime soon at least.
Sam looked extremely proud of herself for doing the almost impossible. We listened to my mom's do's and and don't's for the party and then headed outside, our arms linked to each other. The cool breeze of the night gently caressed my skin and my hairs swayed with the wind. We walked to Sam's car as quickly as our feet could take us and drove off to the party.
The house was decently sized. We could hear the bass from the car and as I looked closely, the garden was littered with red cups, cigarette butts and some other stuff which I couldn't identify. We stepped out and walk towards the entrance as Sam linked her arm with mine.
"Look who decided to show up!", a boy, Mason if I remember correctly, said on noticing Sam's presence. As his gaze shifted towards me, a look of confusion took upon his face.
"Hey! I am Mason. You must be Sam's friend. What school do you go to?", he questioned.
"Uhh... I go to the sa-"
Before I could complete my sentence, Sam decided to do my introduction.
"Mason, this is Vivienne. The school nerd? Remember?"
Finally, the guy recalled who I was. As the realisation hit him, his jaw dropped and his eyes shot wide open. He even rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things.
"Oh my god! I never knew we had such a hot school nerd. Hey Vivienne, you must be single right?", he said as his lips curved into a smirk. Sam pushed him away from me and muttered something under her breathe. As we headed inside, I could see people giving me shocked looks after getting hit by the realisation of who I was.
Well, guess no one expected the school nerd to show up to the party. Heck even the nerd herself didn't.
The house was jam-packed with people. The living room had turned into a dance floor and kitchen was playing the role of a bar. With the music blasting so loud, one couldn't even hear themselves let alone others. The party lights flashed in every colour that was out there, making it harder to see and I had come to realise that I had lost Sam in the crowd somewhere. It wasn't possible to search for a little human in here so I decided to give myself a house tour.
I decided to head up the stairs, as I anticipated there to be less people upstairs. And that was indeed true but still the sight in front of me was not what I wanted to behold. A girl and guy were busy eating off each other's faces by the wall on the right, and though there were three doors leading to three different rooms, I didn't dare to step inside any. I would like to keep my eyes pure and innocent for as long as possible. Seeing the happenings of upstairs, I thought maybe downstairs wasn't that bad. So I headed back down.
I opened a door and it turned out to be a bathroom. Then I walked to the room other than the one with the dance floor in it, and it appeared to be more of a formal living space. I noticed a group of people sitting around in a circle with a glass bottle, which earlier contained some sort of alcohol, in the middle. They were definitely playing the good ol' spin-the-bottle.
As I turned around, I hear Sam's voice calling my name.
"Hey Viv! You walked in the right moment, we were just about to start with spin-the-bottle. Come join us!", she said while patting the carpet on her right, signalling me to sit down. I walked towards her shyly and sat down next to her. As I looked up, my eyes met the electric blue ones which belonged to none other than Aaron Mendes.
Oh boy! I am so not ready for this.
Author's Note:
