Vivienne's POV:
I had been tossing and turning in my bed for an hour now, waiting for sleep to engulf me. But my thoughts wouldn't let my mind be at peace. I couldn't stop replaying that scene. No matter how hard I tried to divert my thoughts and think about something else, they would somehow find their way back.
And for some odd reason, it wasn't the kiss I was thinking about.
It was Kiera's brother.
Something about him interested me. Whether it was his mysterious, reserved personality or his peculiar, grey eyes; I couldn't quite put a finger on what it was. And tonight was probably the first time I had heard his voice. Of course I saw him in the school everyday, but never did I spot him engaging in a conversation with a fellow student. He would always be by himself in a quiet, secluded corner; looking like he didn't have a care in this world. Nothing seemed to capture his interest. And it's not like he wasn't ever approached by anyone. He was approached by many. But him being him, never paid anyone any heed.
It almost seems like he doesn't want anyone to acknowledge his presence and wants them to act like he isn't even there. Like there is a secret he is hiding, which he doesn't want anyone to know.
But what?
It was so amusing to think of his and Kiera's contrasting personalities. Kiera was a social butterfly; someone who could make friends even with the most reticent person with ease. She possessed a bright and bubbly personality, polar opposite to her brother's. She seemed like a person who could be surrounded by people for as long as she had to while her brother was someone who would prefer staying as far away from humans as possible.
All in all, Luke Barrington was a guy who was as enigmatic as it could be.
And, my curiosity didn't help a bit with the case.
I don't even know where this curiosity originated from. Luke wasn't the only quiet kid in the neighbourhood. Instead, there were quite a few that I could recall the names of. But none of them sparked my interest like this grey-eyed boy.
After a few more minutes, my thoughts started to get fainter as I drifted deep into slumber.

I was walking down the corridors of the school to get to the cafeteria with Sam. The staring situation had only gotten worse since the dare. Sam seemed to be having the time of her life, even though she had always made people stop and stare with her model-like appearance, this amount of attention was thrice of that. I, on the other side, still needed to get acquainted with the stares and whispers.
We got to the cafeteria, quickly paid for our food and looked around to find an empty seat. That's when we noticed Kiera frantically waving her arm to catch our attention. We made our way towards her and took a seat on the table she had reserved for us.
All of us fell into a random conversation while eating our food. It was nice to have someone other than Sam to talk with. It wasn't like I didn't like her or had gotten bored of our friendship, but it had always just been the two of us. Occasionally, one or two of Sam's cheerleader friends would come sit with us at lunch but that was about it. I wouldn't call them friends anyways. Even though Sam was the "popular" one, she was still quite picky about who she got close with.
With Kiera around, it made me realise how lonely it was with just me and Sam. It was good for both of us as Sam got someone who would be interested in the daily school drama and I had someone to talk to me about something other than that very same daily school drama.
We were so engrossed in our chit-chat that we didn't notice the sound of footsteps approaching us. It was the screeching noise of the chair that made us all look towards the source of that noise.
