Chapter 2

Kain's POV

After I heard the footsteps stop, I tried to take as many deep breaths as I could and hid under my duvet. My face was slightly less red, and my eyes were less puffy now.

The door handle twisted, and my door opened gently, almost as if he was trying not to be too rude. I try to be as quiet as possible but unwillingly let out a choked sob.

The person that I assumed was Ace quickly walked over to me and tried to calm me down, but I was only growing more and more scared by the second.

"Are you okay? Why are you crying?" He asked me softly.

"I-I..." My voice was croaky, and I was slightly embarrassed by it, but I couldn't focus on embarrassment. My heart was thumping even louder in my ears, and I let out a slightly louder sob.

Suddenly, I felt a large hand touch my back. I felt a shock surge through my body at the touch and flinched at the feeling.

Calm down; he's trying to help. My wolf told me. I know it was meant to be comfort, but he also had a bit of a commanding tone.

I take a deep breath and try again with speaking to him. "I-I'm fine... It h-happens al-all the time"

"Are you sure? You're still shaking?" He has worry in his voice as he says it, his hand rubbing circles on my back. The sparks were still there, and they helped with my breathing. I nod at him.

The duvet falls down, and he can see my face. I whimper at the sudden breeze of cold air when I remember my window is open.

"C-an you close m-my wind-ow p-please" It was meant to be calm but my body kept taking in sudden breaths during the words.

He gets up and closes it before sitting down next to me and lifting me up onto his lap. It was quite awkward at first but I relaxed into his hug.

He smiles gently down at me and I smile back. Then I realised. I was sat on a really handsome Alpha's lap. My face turned red and he frowned.

"Are you crying again?" He whispered.

I look up at him with wide eyes and a bright red face and shake my head.

"Then what's wrong?"

I point at him then at me then at him again.

"Why aren't you talking? I don't understand what you mean." He replies to me with a frown.

I quickly get off of his lap and onto the bed when he starts laughing at me with a big smile.

"Oh so that's what the problem was" He laughed out between breaths. It was only a quiet laugh that was loud enough for only me to hear.

I look away with a red face once again and he smirks. Suddenly, he lifts me up onto his lap again and I fall backwards towards the floor. I yelp out a bit before he catches me.

"Oh my god are you okay" He looked genuinely worried and I shook in his arms. He put me back on the bed and he gets out a Nintendo switch.

"I was planning on playing on my switch tonight anyway so why don't you join me as a sorry?"

I nod my head towards him and point at Mario kart 8. He chooses the map rainbow Road, which is my favourite and we race each other. I won every round and was quite proud of myself.

I had forgot what happened earlier until he lifted me onto his lap for the third time that night. I just leaned my head back onto his chest and he smiled. Only until I elbowed him in the guts.

He looked shocked that someone like me had that much strength until he remembered I was the beta.

I climbed onto my bed again and glared at him playfully, happy with what I just did to him.

He groaned at me and I just smiled at him fakely.

"That's what happens." I say to him then I realised I just elbowed a stranger. A very powerful stranger that could overpower me in seconds.

I'm sorry Kain but your as good as dead now. My wolf laughed at me. I whimpered at the thought of what could happen for me elbowing him in the gut and he had an angry look on his face.

Oh my god I'm actually going to die. Save me Moon Goddess. Please save me from my horrible fate.

"Why are you whimpering at me?"

I jumped a bit when he talked and when he raised a hand towards me I flinched, thinking he was going to hit me.

Of course I had never been hit by anyone but his status and rank scared me. There was an exception of the Alpha of Ash Fields Pack. They rebuilt from the ashes of an old pack hence the name. He had hit me for mistakes made so I tried my best to avoid him at celebrations or visits.

He looked stunned and he lowered his hand onto my head, gently ruffling my platinum blonde fluff that I call hair.

My wolf purred and I was shocked. My wolf had never purred.

He checked the time and quickly stood up. "Welp, I have to go now. Bye lovely see you tomorrow at the pack's Park. Be there at 2pm." He said whispering the word lovely as he spoke. I still heard it though and blushed furiously.

He left my room and I got changed into my pyjamas. While I was trying to sleep I couldn't stop thinking about him.

I smiled and drifted off to sleep.
