──────────────────on the upper east side, privelidged teenagers ruled over more than just constance billard and st jude's high school. they were new york's best and brightest. adults acted like teenagers and teenagers acted like adults as they rose and fell from fame thanks to the not so friendly gossip blog, gossip girl.
they were a free-spirited, reckless bunch having no care for laws or parental authority. they didn't answer to anybody. well, perhaps except gossip girl. with a society desperate to tear you apart, you couldn't make one wrong move as not only would you receive extreme criticism but it would be documented online for anyone and everyone to see.
under the constant eye of the public keeping secrets was never easy, nearly impossible in fact. in the booming city of new york the truth always came out eventually.
but one girl had done a pretty good job at keeping the truth hidden. madi had secrets, there was no doubt about it, and she often flew under the gossip girl radar making it easier for her to keep her secrets buried. but when a familiar face comes back to town, the surface cracks and her lies slowly start to show.
where had she disappeared to last summer? why was she spotted in nineteen different countries in just two months? where was she when she was supposed to be in chicago with her father? what happened on july 23rd, 2007?
these questions were purely speculation of course. all just rumours. but a rumour stems from somewhere, right?
blair waldorf was the queen of constance and always had her cousin madi by her side with the dark brown hair and eyes the colour of whiskey to match. everyone knew who they were and if someone crossed one of them, they crossed them both.
it was strange that they got along so well considering how different they were. while blair relished in the spotlight, madi quite happily would stay in her shadow avoiding the public eye as best she can. perhaps they wouldn't have ever been friends if they weren't related but they were grateful for each other knowing that no matter what happened, they would always have someone to fall back on.
their entire group was a little dysfunctional. they each came from one of manhattans highbrow families made up of wealthy business men or women and socialites.
predictably, serena van der woodsen and blair waldorf were extremely close or at least they were before serena left to boarding school without so much as a goodbye. they had a lot in common, being the two most talked about people on gossip girl and each having their turn and ruling constance billard under an iron thumb.
