Chapter 2 - Now or Never
Important: I'll be switching from Mary's & Liam's point of view for you to understand the story.
Mary's POV:
Liam Payne entered the party. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. He had a huge smile on his face, making his eyes look small.
Katie was standing next to me, she looked at me to see my reaction to Liam's appearance at the party. I can't describe the feeling, it was a mix of being happy and nervous. Happy because I had a chance of seeing and probably talk to Liam, but nervous because I know I had the biggest crush on him back in high school.
After Liam hugged and greeted practically all of the people that were at the party he went to small stage at he back of the dance floor. It was the same place were the announcer told us about the surprise.
"I just want to say a massive thank you to all of you for being so supportive. I know you all believed in me since the beginning. I'm very thankful for that." He stopped and smiled. The crowd started an applause.
"Thank you! Well, I had a very busy schedule but I took some free time to see you all. I missed all of you and thank you again for your support!"
"...Let's get this party started" Liam said trough the microphone and left the stage.
When he finished his message to the class, the music got back on. The people started dancing again. Some of my high school friends went to personally greet Liam and some of them took pictures with him.
I get it, they were all very happy to see him again. But, I felt they were acting like fans. I didn't want to look like that. Katie told me to go with her so that we could greet Liam with a hug. I lied to her saying I needed to go to the bathroom. Obviously, she noticed I was lying. I wasn't ready to see him... yet. She went with Jamie and Amy to greet Liam.
I went to the bathroom, fixed my hair and makeup and got out. It took me like 3 minutes. Then, I decided to go to the bar and asked for a glass of red wine. When all of the sudden I heard a man's voice saying:
"Make it two."
I turned my head to see the man standing beside me. I noticed it was him.
"Hi, I'm Liam Payne. Nice meeting you, and you are?" He asked me.
"I'm Mary... Mary Smith, it's nice to see you again."
"Mary? The same girl that used to be the best biology student in my classroom?"
"Haha, if you say so..." I said nervously.
I can't believe he recognized me. It was kind of disappointing that he remembers me from being a "a good biology student". I didn't considered myself as the best. But, at least he knew who I was.
The bartender put the two glasses of wine on the counter. I was going to pay for my glass, but Liam insisted he wanted to pay. Still, I couldn't believe I was talking with Liam again, it was strange but it felt right.
"It's incredible, you look way different." He said.
"Well, we haven't seen in about two years now, you must see me different." I said drinking from the glass of wine. Did he mean I looked pretty? Wait no, he said "different".
"Yeah, two years is a lot of time! My life changed a lot now that I'm with the band. I'm so thankful I have this wonderful life." Liam said.
I didn't know what else to say to him. I was still in shock. He was always smiling at me and he looked very handsome in his long sleeve dark blue shirt. I saw Katie walking towards us.
