Chapter 4 – The Date and Something Unexpected.

Mary’s POV:

I started to get ready; I wanted to look pretty for my date with Liam. I feel butterflies on my stomach just thinking about it. I decided to wear a casual white dress with a brown leather jacket. Nothing too complicated. I curled up my hair and added some natural makeup with brown eye shadow, making my green eyes more defined.

The doorbell rang… I went downstairs running with excitement. I breathed in and out trying to calm my nerves and then finally opened it.

‘’Hello Lia…’’ I didn’t finish his name. It wasn’t him… it was Jake… my ex-boyfriend.

I can’t believe Jake was standing here at my door step. We broke up a few months ago. He was this typical jerk that believes he can get any girl he wants. I met him on my first year of college because Katie introduced us. After being together for about a year and a half he cheated on me with a girl that was supposed to be one of my friends.

‘’Expecting company?’’ Jake asked with jealousy on his eyes.

‘’What are you doing here?’’ I replied with a question.

‘’I just wanted to see you’’ He said putting his hands on my waist.

‘’I asked you a question’’ I said taking his hands off me.

‘’You didn’t answered mine.’’ He responded.

While I was looking at Jake all I could think about was that I didn’t wanted Liam to come here and find me talking or maybe fighting with my ex-boyfriend. I can’t imagine how bad Jake would react seeing that I was going to have a date.

‘’Jake, you don’t have the right to be here… after all the things you’ve done and said… you just don’t deserve to be talking with me, sorry.’’ I said closing the door on his face.

‘’This isn’t over Mary; I’ll be back’’ I heard Jake through the other side of the door. I watched him go. I was relieved he was gone.

Isn’t over? What does he mean? I just can’t live with myself knowing that at some point in my life I actually dated a guy like Jake.

Then, the doorbell rang again… Ugh! It must be Luke again! I opened the door and said:

‘’Don’t you understand I want you out…’’ I said but before I could finish I realized it wasn’t Luke, it was Liam.

‘’First time I visit your place and you want me out?’’ Liam said laughing.

‘’Nooo, it was just… a salesman trying to convince me to buy life insurance, he was being annoying’’ I replied with embarrassment. I lied because didn’t want to talk about my ex-boyfriend with Liam; it would be extremely awkward to talk about that on a first date.

‘’Poor salesman’’ Liam said with a smile.

He was standing in front of my apartment. He was wearing light blue jeans and a gray long sleeve shirt. He looked extremely handsome.

Liam’s POV:

As soon as I parked the car in front of Mary’s apartment I started to feel a little nervous. I don’t know why… Why was I feeling like this? She’s my friend; I’ve known her for a long time. I was going to have dinner with a friend… just that. I walked towards the door and rang the doorbell.

‘’Don’t you understand I want you out…’’ Mary said, sounding like she was very pissed off.

She explained she was avoiding a salesman that was trying to make her to buy life insurance. Well, that was kind of funny. Her face turned red when she realized it was me instead of the annoying salesman.
