Chapter 1 - The Surprise

The clock alarm is waking me up; I immediately turn it off. Its 6:30 in the morning, I have to get ready for college. My first class is chemistry at 8:00 and my teacher doesn't like it when students are late.

I try hard to get out of bed, I looked all over my bed trying to find me phone, it was on the floor. I see I have 1 new message. It's from my best friend Katie Anderson, it says:

''Hey, Mary!! Remember that today we are going shopping for a new dress for tomorrow's Class of 2011 reunion! See you at college! Hugs and Kisses. -Katie :)''

I respond: ''Yes, I will remember!! I can't wait for tomorrow! We are going to see all our friends we haven't seen in almost 2 years now! So happy! See you then! xx :)''

I enter the shower; the warm water feels so relaxing... I don't want to get out of here. I start thinking about tomorrow and how awesome it's probably going to be. I got out of the shower. Then I start opening my closet to see what to wear.

After looking through my clothes I decided to go to college as simple and comfortable as possible. I put on some jeans and a white shirt. Then, I add some makeup into my face, just a little bit of mascara and lip gloss, trying to look as natural as possible.

I went downstairs, to the kitchen and made me some strawberry pancakes. I look at my phone and noticed is already 7:30! I ate the last piece of pancake I had on my plate.

I need to hurry up even though my college and my apartment are located in in the same city, it's like a 10 or 15 minute drive from my apartment. I don't know how bad the traffic is going to be so I go running upstairs to get my purse, and my car keys.

I start driving and in about 12 minutes I was getting out of my car at the parking lot at the Wolverhampton University.

I saw Katie from the distance, I shouted her name.

''Katie! Wait for me!''

She sees me and hugged me.

''Perfect timing, Mary.'' she says giving me a smile.

It was true I got to college at 7:42 and we were now headed to our chemistry class. Katie and I take this class together, we are very interested in studying pharmacy, and since we are best friends we decided to study in the same college, even though we don't live together. She has her own apartment closer to the university than mine.

We took chemistry, then I went to pre-calculus, and finally to economy. It was Friday so I only took those 3 classes. As soon as I got out of economy I took my phone and sent a message to Katie.

''Hey, I'm hungry, let's have something for lunch, meet me at Ricki Café.''

We got there, and after lunch we started talking a lot about the 2011 Class Reunion.

''Mary, I need to find the perfect color for my dress'' she said to me.

''Don't worry, I'm sure we will both find the perfect dress'' I replied.

I wasn't sure I was that excited for the reunion, I don't know. I was going to see the same people again. Those girls that practically made my life a living hell when I was in High School. To be honest, I wasn't that popular as Katie was. Ever since I was a teenager I was always that quiet girl in the class. Katie was nice to everyone and we became really good friends. Nobody understands why Katie being that popular chose me as her best friend. It's just funny how fast people grow up. Now, I'm 20 and I feel I haven't changed that much, even though Katie says I'm a whole different person. Well, I guess we all have memories of school we all want to erase from our minds.
