Guys, for real, don't over bind.
It's not worth it. This is a request!Note: Reader uses he/they pronouns, I'm going to experiment with using male nouns (like boyfriend) and adjectives (like good-looking) to describe the reader while using they/them pronouns.
Warning: This whole one shot is full of transphobic comments and overbinding
Summary: "You should be thankful Sugawara is bi, no one would date you otherwise."
In every relationship there is a problem the couple faces. From long distance to family disproving. Comments and opinions have always caused trouble to stir. For this case, it was the root of the problem. As well as not communicating.
Sugawara has one thing on his side, observation. Being a setter has taught him to looking at everything. To take even the smallest detail, noticed at a glance, into account.
So it came to a surprise when Sugawara noticed the major difference in his boyfriend's breathing. It looked like he was taking heavier breaths. Even when relaxing or just eating lunch. The way he smiles is a little off too. More forced around his friends.
After noticing those changes, he payed more attention to what's happening around them. Being in the same year wasn't much help with this. The two don't have any at the same classes this year, and their classrooms are more far apart. Luckily for Sugawara, Daichi shared a class with him.
"Hey uh some people are whispering about (Y/n), they can hear it too." He tells him one day after practice. "It's been going on for a while now. I think the words are finally taking a toll."
"So that's it..." Sugawara doesn't look surprised.
"They didn't mention anything to you about it? It's been happening for almost a month now. Up until recently they just ignored them and and carried on without a care. Up until recently, that is." The captain explained.
"Thanks I'll go talk to them about it." He opens the clubroom door before Daichi adds.
"This late at night?"
"They had work today and should be getting off now. I'll make up an excuse to meet with him." With that he closes the door and waits until he's off campus to call his boyfriend.
They pick up after the second ring. "Hey, is something wrong? You never call this late."
"It's nothing, you're off work now right?"
"Yeah, close to my house now."
"Could we meet up somewhere? Before you get home." He asks not trying to sound desperate. Of course that doesn't work, he's not the best at lying.
"Sorry but my parents are expecting me to come home right after work. I already told them I was five minutes away." They explain, "are you sure your okay?"
"Yeah yeah I'm good." Sugawara pinches his nose. "I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yeah see you."
The call ends and Sugawara sighs. "Maybe a straight forward approach isn't the best..." He spends the next morning thinking about what his next move should be.
A few of (Y/n)'s classmates were walking behind him as they all made their way to the school entrance. "I mean seriously the shits luck Sugawara likes girls. How else would you ever get a boyfriend."
"Shut up he's right there."
"He can't hear me besides it's true."
Sugawara bites his tongue, it wasn't worth fighting them. Their opinions would never change, getting into a fight would be a waste of time. Plus there's that volleyball match next week.
