"Pass me the box please," I said as I tapped my co-worker, Duckie's shoulder. We had to hurry or else these grumpy city workers would write nasty things about us everywhere; mostly magazines.
I own a small bakery in the middle of the city for at least a year and a half now. But only took off two months ago after a well known magazine writer, Morgan Williams, tried our famous red velvet cupcakes and dedicated a page of the magazine she wrote for to our tiny shop.
Since then, I've upgraded the bakery a little and made it into a cafe. Not only we sell cakes and cupcakes, we started selling coffee after I offered Morgan coffee during our interview and she suggested I start selling them to earn even more profit. Obviously, I did.
Every single day, I see different people and some regular faces. One of them was Mr Haim. He owns a huge company that ensures the safety of banks at only 19 years old. While I am here, 18, with a tiny cafe. He was a customer even before the cafe blew up (not literally). He was like a friend to everyone in the cafe.
Oh, here he is! Next in line.
"Hi there Corey. Here's your skinny latte and the red velvet cheesecake you told me to save for you," I smiled at him while handing him his order.
"Thanks Nic!" he took his order from my hands and ordered extra today. "Non fat latte with a regular cupcake."
Without hesitation, I made the latte and placed the cupcake in a box while my co workers, more known as my friends, took orders for the rest of the people in
the queue. Corey waited at the side of the counter for his items.
"Here," he passed me the money for his extra order but I pushed his hand back, refusing to accept it.
"It's alright, it's on the house," I laughed as Corey tried his hardest to pass it to Duckie. I stood in front of her pushed her back with my butt. Honestly, in this cafe, it's never serious. It's always about fun but some grumpy customers just ruin the mood. How sad.
"Hey, to make it up to you, I'll pick you up after you close and we can have dinner. How's that?" Corey whispered.
"Hmm..." I teased him. He poked my tummy and laughed as I told him not to do that again. "Sure. Anything for free food." I smirked.
"See you!" He called out as he walked out of the cafe but his scent was still lingering around my nose.
I love his smile. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
//
The last customer finally left the café. It was about time because closing time was thirteen minutes ago but we didn't want to disturb him while he was on his phone. Looked pretty serious to me.
"Nic, go and get dressed! Corey's gonna reach anytime soon." Duckie reminded me. I looked at my watch and it read: 6:59PM. I should go wash myself up and change out from my work uniform before Corey arrives. Luckily Tianna reminded me of the dinner agreement.
Just as I was about to tie my hair, I heard a honk outside the cafe and saw Corey motioning me to hop on his car.
"Just remember to bring home food for Beka and I!" Duckie called out. Beka, Tianna and I live in the same apartment. Duckie decided to help me out with my business since she was my childhood baking buddy but Beka is in college.
Beka's mum said that we won't have a bright future if we just did what we're doing right now. I agree, having a business is tough but we make a lot of money from it and we can run it however we like.
I threw Tianna thirty bucks and left.
"How are you doing lady? Looking fine tonight." He acted like a thug; for fun of course!
"I'm a respected woman in this country," I mocked the lady we saw the other day in 7Eleven who was exaggerating about her mashed potato until it led to her talking about the rights of women. "I demand to be called woman!" I acted toughly.
He laughed and drove off as I buckled up. His driving was rather... dangerous. So you have to hold on to your dear life every single time. Hoping that you do not meet with an accident.
"Slow down, knucklehead!" I yelled over the sound of the screeching car. He just gave me that smirk of his and continued driving like the road was his.
"We're here!" He pulled up and parallel parked outside a restaurant. I groaned. I looked down to what I'm wearing.. I'm too underdressed for this place.
"No, we're not. Let's go grab Chinese and we'll call it a night. I love me some good ol' Chinese food." I said trying to escape from going in the restaurant.
"I made the agreement, I choose our dinner place. I know it's you not dressing appropriately. Don't worry you look fine," he said. "Now, get the hell out of this car and let's kick some fine dining's ass!"
Corey Haim, always create a ruckus and has the mentality of a five year old child. He's very fun to be with and not to mention, very handsome. He had the perfect family that always visited him. So I wonder if the latte and cupcake he
bought today was for his family member who was in town.
Some background information about Haim, he was a badass in High School. He used to ditch school and run away with his dad to rob banks. They've change since then. Hence, he opened up his company to protect them from people like who he used to be.
In short, Corey Haim is a bowl of happiness but don't ever make him upset.
"Hello? Are you there? Earth to Nicole?" Corey waved his hand in front of my face before pulling me out of the car.
They say he's a lady's man but he sure is rough.
