This is a story that I have been working on for the longest time. I have always started it then stop. Reading it today, I realized that I need to get this story out there too. This book is dedicated to my grandfather, my inspiration to be a writer. I think I have all the right tools now to be the best writer I can be. My grandfather was a newspaper reporter for Deep Creek High School. Also, he was a newspaper writer for The Portsmouth Star. Later in life, he was a civilian journalist for the military. I remember all the places he would go to. He would tell me stories of the different places.
I also would like to acknowledge my eight grade English teacher, Ms. Miller. When she assigned the class to write a descriptive short story, I don't know if she knew what talent she would have me unleash. To this day, I still remember her comments on my short story. She said, "Very descriptive. I felt like I was in the story myself." That's when I realized that I needed to be a writer. I was fourteen years old at that time.
Later on in my life, I had found my dad's side of the family. There was a local author, L.B Taylor Jr that I loved reading his Ghost of Virginia books. I found out that he was my cousin by marriage. Before he passed away, I had sent him a letter asking for some advice. He wrote back saying, "Just sit down and just DO IT!" Best advice ever.
