"Diana, do you know if Percy and Grover are here to?" asked Danny
"no they aren't here" answered Diana "but Chiron did tell me that they should be here in the next few days"
Danny and thanked her for that little bit of information and continued to follow her as she gave him a tour of the camp
They passed the volley ball pit, several of the campers nudged each other
"thats the kid who fought Vlad masters and lived to tell about it" one teenager whispered to the other
"i'm surprised he's still alive" his friend said
Most of the campers were older than him, their satyr friends were bigger than Grover, all of them trotting around in bright orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirts with nothing else to cover their bare shaggy hindquarters
Danny wasn't normally a shy person, but the way they were staring at him made him feel uncomfortable
He looked back at the farm house and it was a lot bigger than he realized, four stories tall, sky blue with a white trim, like an upscale seaside resort, he was checking out the brass eagle weather vane on top when something caught his eye, a shadow in the uppermost window of the attic gable, something had moved the curtain, just for a second and he got the distinct impression that he was being watched
"whats up there?" asked Danny
Diana's smile faded "just the attic"
"somebody lives there?" asked Danny
"no" answered Diana "not a single living thing"
Danny didn't have any choice but to believe her, but still he knew something had moved that curtain
"come along now Danny" said Diana "there is still much to see"
They waked through the strawberry fields where campers were picking bushes of berries while a satyr played a tune on a reed pipe
Diana explained to him that the camp grew a nice crop for export to New York restaurants and Mt Olympus
"it pays our expenses" explained Diana "and the strawberries take almost no effort to grow"
She explained how Mr D had this effect on fruit bearing plants, they just went crazy when he was around, it worked best with wine grapes but Mr D was restricted from growing those, so they grew strawberries instead
Danny watched a satyr play his pipe, his music causing lines of bugs to leave the strawberry patch in every direction
"hey Diana?" said Danny
"yes Danny?" said Diana
"if the gods of Olympus are real, then does that mean the underworld is real to?" asked Danny
Diana's face darkened "yes, young one, there is a place where souls go after death, but for now until we know more until we know more, i strongly suggest you push the realm of the dead to the back of your mind"
"yes ma'am" said Danny a little nervously
The continued walking until Danny started to hear the banging of hammers and the smell of burning metal filled the air, if he had to guess, they were near a forge, two kids, one male and one female a little older than Danny walked out of the forge covered in ash and soot, they walked down a trail that lead to what looks like pegasus stables
"come Danny lets see the woods" said Diana
Danny was exited to see the woods, it had always felt like a second home to him whenever his parents would take him and his sister on one of their camping trips, he would always get exited at the thought being surrounded by nothing but trees and plants, but his most favorite part were the animals, he could hear them all around him, the sounds they made, their foot steps whenever they came close to his families campsite, he didn't know why, but he could always tell when an animal was nearby, no matter what kind it was
