I gave Damon the finger.

I sat up and fixed the beanie on my head. I flicked my pink bangs out of my eyes and sighed.

"The car is fine. Grey and Di will not be fine for long, though. Tomorrow, they may or may not have gone on a little vacation..... To visit Satan. I will have driven them there. In a rental car, of course. Can't have my baby getting burned, now can we?" The guys chuckled. Damon looked at me, a lazy smile on his lips.

"You're actually not that bad, you know?" I never knew how to react to compliments, so I just treated it like a joke. I flicked my hair over my shoulder, acting like a popular girl.

"I know!" I said in a sassy, nasally voice, imitating the 'it' girls at our school. "I'm so amazing. You're all so lucky to be in my presence. Even the queen would be honoured to meet me!" The guys laughed again. Bobby put an arm around my shoulders, just like Grey always did, but I didn't snuggle into Bobbys side like I did with Grey.

It was different.

I shrugged Bobbys arm off my shoulders and played with the ends of my pink hair.
"So, to what do I owe the pleasure of this lovely little chat?" Emmett was about to say something, but Beckett beat him to it.

"Well, like Emmett said, we've been watching you- oh man, that does sound really creepy - well, we weren't only watching you. We had a list- a recruitment list, you could say. You were on that list- the last person on the list. We were looking for certain... Traits. We all took turns watching each person on the list. After watching all of you for a few weeks, we arranged meetings with each recruit. We-" Beckett was about to say something else, but Bobby cut in.

"Technically, we didn't arrange meetings. We hunted people down, stalked them, followed them places, until we could corner them and have this conversation." Beckett look at Bobby with a, really? look, and he just shrugged. Beckett shook his head before continuing.
"Anyway, as I was saying.... Well, technically, Bobby is right. We'd find out where that person would be after school, go to that place, and talk with them. The fact that you were the only one who didn't piss yourself upon seeing us, means you passed a sort of... Test. Not only that, but you managed to be cocky, make us all laugh, and give Damon the finger, all in-" he glanced down at his watch, "-half an hour. Bravo, you are now our friend." Damon clapped slowly. Beckett slapped his arm. I stared at them. Really? That's what this was all about? Me becoming their friend?

"So, Amber." Beckett said, cutting into my thoughts. "We would like to... Uh... Continue this conversation, you know, somewhere a little more.... Private." He glanced up at the security cameras in all corners of the room and I nodded. Where would we meet? At one of their houses? That would be a little awkward, considering this was the first time we've ever actually had a conversation....

"Good. So, next weekend. Saturday night. We're all having a little sleepover at bunker 9." I looked at him, my eyebrows furrowed. Bunker 9?

"What's that? Bunker 9?" I had never heard of such a thing. It sounded like something from a book. The four boys all smiled and said, in unison,

"Our base."
