Shit.
Bobby reached for me but I dodged his hand and ran past him, into the woods. I knew Bobby was following me from the sound of his heavy footsteps, crushing the foliage that littered the forest floors. I ran around, hoping to loose him in the trees, but he never lost sight of me. Curse my bright freaking pink hair. I finally saw my car and raced to it, but before I could reach it, Bobby's arms were around my waist and I couldn't move. My back was pressed against his body and I felt his breath on my neck. "Let me go! Get off me!" Bobby smirked and let me go, but put his hands on my car on either side of me, caging me in. "Or what? What are you gonna do?" I rolled my eyes. This guy was too cocky for his own good. "Well, I'm sure the cops would just love a front row view of your gun stash." Bobby's eyes widened before his face relaxed and me smirked, again. "You wouldn't do that. You wouldn't dare."
"I totally would."
"No, you would not."
"Yes. Yes I would."
"Nuh uh."
"Uh huh."
"You'd be too scared! You'd chicken out!"
"Dude. I was friends with supposed aliens for two days. Do you really think I would chicken out of selling them out to the cops?"
"You wouldn't be able to do it."
"Uh, yeah, I would. How many times will I have to say it to get it through that thick scull of yours?" He frowned, only now realizing what I had said before. "Um, Amber, we're not aliens. Nor are we rapists, or girls, or any of those absurd rumors." I sighed. He was right. The rumors were pretty absurd. But, they said that some of the rumors were true. Which ones? I tried to figure out which ones he hadn't denied.
"So, you're in a gang? You've killed people? Why won't you let me go? I mean nothing to you, and I promise I won't tell anyone. Just please, let me go!" Bobby sighed sadly before shaking his head. I looked at him incredulously. What?! I said everything they could possibly have wanted! I was just a passtime, a game, to them, right? I didn't understand. I saw Emmett, Beckett and Damon running towards us, and slumped. If they were going to kill me, I might as well make it easy for them. Bobby slipped his arms around my waist to keep me from falling to the ground. then Beckett reached us and grabbed my hand, attempting to get me on my feet. I did not cooperate. Eventually, Beckett gave up and just picked me up, bridal style. I was strangely calm, considering I was convinced that these boys were going to murder me and scatter the pieces. I looked up at Beckett as he carried me back to their scary base hideout thingy. I wondered how he was gonna get me down the slide. I suppose he could just drop me in, but he seemed like the kind of guy that worry about me getting hurt. Then again, he was in a gang, and had supposedly killed people.
I wrapped my arms around Beckett's neck, to try and save myself incase he did decided to drop my down the slide, but my action must've made him think I trusted him or wasn't scared of him. Ha, I totally was.
We reached the dilapidated little shed and stepped in. Emmet, Damon and Bobby went down first, leaving just Beckett and I. He set me on my own two feet and sighed, running a hand through his hair. "We're not gonna hurt y-" I cut him off. "No, you've lost the privilege of saying that. You lost it when you traumatized me with your goddamn gun stash, Beckett!" He just stared at me. "Look," I sighed. "I wanted to be freinds with you, I really did. You seemed like really cool guys, even with all your anger management problems and secrets. I thought that whole 'recruitment list' thing was just some... Code word, I don't know. Maybe it is, I mean, how should I know? All I know about you is that you're dangerous." He flinched when I said the last word, dangerous, and I almost felt bad. Almost.
"Amber, I'm sorry. We didn't mean to scare you. I promise, cross my heart and hope to die, that we will not hurt you." He looked down at me, hope clear in his eyes. He seemed sincere, but I still had my doubts. "How many times did you lie to me? How much of what you've told me is the truth?" I asked quietly, almost inaudible. Beckett sighed and gave me an apologetic look. Not much was the truth, then. I laughed humorlessly and looked out at the forest surrounding us. "Please, Amber. We'll explain everything to you, but you've gotta come inside first." I sighed. Did I really want to do this? He seemed like he really wanted me to come, and I felt generally safe with the boys, mostly Beckett. I sighed and nodded. Beckett smiled and grabbed my hand gently, leading me to the hole. He smiled reassuringly at me before I took a deep breath and stepped where there was no floor. I fell into darkness and, once again, lost my beanie in the slide.
