I didn't notice how he was dressed at first but I noticed it now.
Fritz was wearing a plain white t-shirt and basketball shorts that showed off his muscular physique. I had almost forgotten that he was an avid baseball player and a part-time runner. Instead of the normal brown haired boys I was used to seeing, Fritz's hair was a mix of orange and blonde with highlights of brown. Not to mention he had adorable freckles speckled across his shoulders, neck and cheeks.
His scent was very familiar and reminded me of sweat and 'Axe Body Spray'. It certainly wasn't pleasant or off-putting.
"Wh-what did you just say?" Mike asked, his eyes twitching in shock. Fritz just smirked and gave a shrug.
"Eleanor is my ex-girlfriend. She hasn't told you about that?"
"N-no!"
I could feel both of their gazes on me, causing my neck to prickle with uneasiness.
Fritz Smith had been my first for everything.
He had been my first real boyfriend, my first kiss, my first romance, and my first...well, you get the idea.
Things had gotten rocky between us and eventually we split right before my eighteenth birthday. I was actually okay with it and kind of glad it had fizzled out. He was too stubborn and pushy with me.
He even pressured me into being intimate with him. At the time I really liked him so I agreed, but looking back on it I started to hate him for it. When people told me not to get pushed into things like that I had no idea what they were talking about...but now I did.
He wasn't sour about the whole thing between us, but he definitely wanted Mike to know my 'bad qualities'. That was understandable, given if I were in his position.
"Uh...y-yeah. We were dating at one point." I choked out, feeling myself growing dizzy. Mike seemed to pick up on this because he planted a hand on my side...away from Fritz's prying eyes. I shivered but didn't say anything else. Fritz would explain it.
"Yep. From freshman year to senior year in high school. It's been awhile though. Nice haircut by the way, Ellie." He sighed, taking a left turn at an intersection. We were a few blocks from my apartment...so we wouldn't have to bear the awkwardness for much longer.
Wait, did he just say he liked my 'haircut'? Technically they hadn't shaved me bald but my hair would definitely be short for a while. I think the style is called a 'pixie cut'.
"You didn't tell me you knew her like that." Mike grumbled. His brow furrowed in thought while he took a hard look at the passing scenery. "You didn't tell me anything at all."
"I was just making sure she was the right one. I've known quite a few." Fritz shrugged, making his shoulder bump against mine. I knew him well enough to know it was on purpose. "Of course, this Ellie has much more experience."
I felt my stomach flare up with heat and embarrassment. He knew that comments like that always made me feel dirty! And he was doing this right in front of Mike!
"Shut up Fritz." I growled, trying to get him to stop his teasing. "You need to stop talking."
"Maybe you should too. Having your mouth open that wide is bringing back some old memories."
I bristled and nearly smacked him with all of my might. "You're a disgusting bastard! I can't believe I actually liked you!"
"Hey! That's enough you two." Mike shouted, tugging me into his arms so that I wouldn't punch Fritz. "You're both acting dumb!"
"Hah! She hasn't changed a bit!" Fritz laughed, pulling into the parking lot. I glowered at him but eventually found myself getting out of the car. I limped up the stairway and away from my terrible Ex.
