Natsu Hates it When Zeref is Bored

Easter Egg

Happy Easter everyone! So this was suggested by TheRedHeadedAce from Fanfiction. It's been a while since I've updated this fanfic, and I hope it was well worth the wait. Let's get started! :)

Natsu woke this morning with a joyful smile. Today was Easter and that meant one of his favorite treats was out: chocolate eggs. He couldn't wait to get to the guild hall where he knew the eggs would be, so he left his house in a blur of movement.

As soon as he got close to the edge of the forest, he patted and look at himself to make sure there was nothing abnormal about him. Believing he was in the clear, Natsu ran for the guild, dodging families along the way.

The front of his guild was packed full of families with the children restlessly standing around with baskets. Mirajane was announcing this year's egg hunt, but Natsu for the most part ignored it. He had heard this speech every year, so he knew it by heart. Besides, he had his own eggs to hunt down. Just as he spotted the table full of goodies, Mira let the kids go to look for all the eggs, making Natsu smirk. 'Good luck finding the eggs I hid,' he thought mischievously.

The dragon slayer went over to the table and straight for the bowl full of chocolate eggs. The eggs were the size of golf balls and wrapped in colorful foil wrap to keep them fresh. Natsu grabbed about ten of them before sitting down to eat them as he watched the children.

So far, from what he could see, none of the children had found any of the 10 eggs he hid or even the 10 that Grey and Erza hid each. Natsu liked to think that he was helping the children use their creative minds to find the eggs, but in reality, he and Grey were just that competitive with each other. Erza...she might be doing it for the reason Natsu liked to think, but he wasn't sure. After all, she liked to compete with them sometimes.

Natsu was eating his eighth chocolate egg by the time he saw that one of Gray's eggs was found hidden in the ice basket held by the ice Easter bunny. The child had cheered, which gained the other children's attention. They moved to surround the ice bunny to see if there were any more eggs around it, but Natsu knew there weren't. Gray may have an ice block for a brain, but he wasn't that stupid as to use the same hiding spot twice.

Natsu stretched and was about to grab the ninth chocolate egg when he noticed he could no longer move his arms. He was very confused until he tried to look at them. His eyes widened in horror and disbelief. 'Zeref, you cruel, cruel man. How dare you mess with my chocolate eggs!' his whole body was covered by a giant, brown, chocolatey, sweet eggshell. He could bend his arms and legs, which told him that the egg was hollow, but he could not move his wrists or ankles very well. Only his hands, feet, and head were outside the giant chocolate egg.

He tried to struggle and break free, but this caused him to lose his balance and tip over. His body landed on the ground, but the shell didn't break. He tried to melt the chocolate, but it kept cooling down faster than he could heat it up. Now he was starting to panic, causing him to roll around like a runaway egg. "Guys! I could use a little help here!" the fire dragon slayer cried out desperately, but as he turned his hopeful green eyes at his guildmates, townsfolk, and children, his hope passed away like a house that burned to ashes and a strong wind carried what remained. Everyone was staring at him with stars in their eyes and drool spilling out of their mouths like waterfalls.

Natsu's fight and flight response kicked in, and since he could hardly move, his flight became the dominant instinct. He tried his best to roll away, but he ended up just going in circles. His attempt didn't last long, however, and every single person attending the Easter egg hunt was upon him. Natsu roared, hoping to get everyone off of him, but it failed. None of his screams deterred them from eating away at the chocolate eggshell.

While the people were eating the chocolate, Natsu faintly noticed how the shell kept reforming itself, what he noticed more was that someone almost bit his hand. He was able to pull his hand into the shell thanks to the wider opening, which had now closed completely. Natsu was finally able to relax that arm, but just as he placed it down, he felt something thin laying inside the eggshell with him. He grabbed it and punched a hole through the shell so he could see what it was. His eyes narrowed dangerously when he saw it was a small piece of paper. 'What does Zeref have to say THIS time!?' he faced the note toward himself and began to read.

"The more chocolate eggs you eat, the more you become something like an egg turtle. I call it that because you're more inside the egg than actually

a part of it. Can't have your friends really eating you. The egg will reform itself until midnight, so good luck getting out of the dogpile.

-Zeref"

Natsu felt a vein throbbing in his head. "Zeref, that wasn't the only thing you did... WHY ISN'T ANYONE STOPPING IN TRYING TO EAT ME!"

When midnight finally showed up, Natsu was free from his chocolate prison, and everyone else was lying on the ground groaning and holding their big, round bellies. "So...full..." Natsu wasn't sure who said it, but he felt his jaw tense. "I can't believe we ate all of that..." Natsu's body began to twitch now.

'If they say one more complaint I'll...'

"Zeref must have cursed us this time..."

"THAT'S IT! ALL OF YOU WILL STOP YOUR COMPLAINING! YOU GUYS WEREN'T THE ONES WHO WERE STUCK IN A CHOCOLATE EGGSHELL, UNABLE TO MOVE, AND WORRIED ABOUT SOMEONE TAKING A CHUNK OUT OF YOU WHILE EVERYONE IN MAGNOLIA WAS EATING AWAY AT SAID EGGSHELL JUST TO SATISFY SOME CRAZY, INSANE, BORED OUT OF HIS MIND, DARK WIZARD!" Natsu had snapped at everyone in a rage, causing them all to look at him with blank expressions.

"At least you don't have to worry about going to a hospital because you feel like you're going to pop," said Gray. "But since this is technically your fault, you can carry all of us to the hospital."

Natsu stared with his jaw hanging low toward the ground. "I can't carry all of you! Also, it isn't my fault that you guys weren't able to control yourselves."

"Zeref cursed us just so he can torture you, so yes, it is you're fault, Salamander," said Gajeel with a growl in his tone.

Natsu groaned in defeat. There was nothing he could say to counteract Gajeel's claim. "Fine, but I'll run to the hospital first and ask for their help in dragging you all there. I just hope no one asks any questions about this..." he said the last sentence under his breath as he walked away from all the chocolate-filled people and straight to the hospital.
