HOW TO RESTORE OLD TANK

MATERIALS: gloves, facemask, razorblade, Mr.Cleam magic eraser, Aqueon silicon, painters tape, black acrylic paint, roller

STEPS

Rinse tank with hose water

Scrub with Mr.Clean sponge. Razor blade hard calcium deposit or water stain

Push old silicon towards the corner using a blade razor hand tool. Push blade underneath the old silicon. Peel

Use 91% rubbing alcohol at the corner.

Vacuum the old peeled silicon if you can’t get rid of them by hand

Tape. 

Weart a mask and silicon seal in between the painter’s tape at the corners. Apply generous amount. Push the silicon in place by your finger

Immedately remove the painter’s tape

Paint the bottom and back of the tank with black acrylic paint. Also the trimmings.


Restoring acrylic tank with scratches

Rinse tank with water. Remove dirt

Place on a table with towel underneath

Do inside first. Get a 1000 grit wet-dry (from an autopart store) and use an electric palm sander. Always keep the tank wet while sanding.

Be mindful that you are using electricity in a wet area.

Rinse off once in awhile.

Get the 2000. Use one direction. 

Do outside. Again start with 1000 dry-wet sand paper.

Do a foam sponge. Let it dry. Or wipe with a microfiber cloth.

Get a NOVUS 2 and 1. Use electric drill and connect it with car pads. Use circular motion. Start again from the inside.
