Standard Aquarium Tank Sizes
Small aquarium tank sizes run from about 2-½ gallons through 15 gallons.
Medium aquarium tank sizes start at 20 gallons through 40 to 45 gallons.
Large aquarium tank sizes start around 50 gallons and can go up to 225 gallons.
5 gallon= 62 lbs when filled
15 gallons- 170 lbs when filled with water
Avoid tanks under 10 gallons if you are a first-time aquarium owner. Small aquariums are far more difficult to manage than larger ones, as toxins can build up very quickly in the small volume of water.
