[ written on 8th April 2023 after completing the book ]Firstly, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this piece of work. It really means so much to me that you were willing to spare your time for something I wrote with my whole heart. Thank you so much, really!
Esme and Dev are two characters that impacted me from my real life situations and the people around me. Their souls are much alike to the types of people I've seen around and their hearts do tell a totally different story about love and forgiveness. May people like Devon Zachary rest in eternal peace because they are tired of fighting off their demons.
Esme suffers from survivor's guilt and she can't do anything about it. And the way she deals with her emotions is through Devon, she sees him as an anchor and she wants him desperately, maybe then she thinks she can get rid of her past self. She considers herself vile and murderous.
As for Devon, he's someone floating, like a ghost. His only friend in the entire school is Ruston and we don't know how really Dev and Esme started off as friends, but their friendship or her love for him lasted until his last breath.
The Epigraph now must make sense because Dev was in a sexuality crisis and that's why these two never really worked out. He kissed her but that's it. He's kissed Ruston but that's it, there's never really a conclusion as to what Devon actually is in, unless we take it from his pov. To me, it's a mystery ;)
Also extra facts !
1) the story takes place in 2019
2) it's set in the Known to Mend Universe, hence the mention of Kinsfield Borough (my favorite town and maybe I should do a crossover in the future)
3) the mood board at the beginning makes a LOT of sense after reading the story.
4) Esme wishes to play in the Paralympics someday
Finally, thank you again for reading. I hope you felt Esme's pain and Devon's sadness. Your comments and votes helped me tons and if your a silent reader who likes to binge read, then that's absolutely fine but your votes are much much appreciated.
See you all in another book, maybe? xx
