Alexis grunted as she was forced into a seat opposite of the mysterious man. The chair was rough, but nice looking. Her hands were no longer bound, but there was a guard by her side to keep her in check.

A long table, fit for a king, separated the young girl and her captor. For a moment, all Alexis could think about was the disgusting grin plastered across the man's face. If she wasn't so far away, she'd punch him so hard teeth would come flying out. He'd be too ashamed to keep smiling.

"Oh, don't give me that look," The man said, wagging his index-finger in a tutting motion. "We've only met briefly and you are already starting to dislike me. But that will change soon, as time goes on, I'm sure."

"Sure," Alexis replied sourly.

The man frowned. "Normally, I don't let foolish attitude be expressed by lower ranks. Though I am a fair man, I can't have such disrespect enter my surroundings," He said, his accent still as strong as before. "But, since you are a special case, I will let such thing slide for now."

The young, light haired girl huffed, unimpressed with his little 'I'm giving you permission to hate me openly' talk. "Who are you," Alexis asked through her teeth. She hadn't been in the presents of the man for too long, but with each passing second, she found herself growing more and more opposed with every little thing he said.

"Ah, where are my manners," The man said, chuckling lightly at himself. "I am Chief Milorious of Grakor. I rule this village and most of the land around it. A Beautiful place, isn't it?"

Alexis narrowed her eyes in thought. She hadn't really taken in her surroundings while she was outside. At least, not while she was tied to the wooden beam. She had been too focused on Mr. High and Mighty Chief while he was standing in her face.

"Sure." She settled for dryly. With a brief glace at one of the guard next to her, Alexis bit the inside of her cheek to suppress a smirk. She then glanced at her hands, folded on her lap, and abruptly lifted them up to rest her elbows on the table, slamming them down hard enough to cause the one guard to jump.

Yeah, it wasn't going to be too difficult to get out of here.

Alexis rested her chin in the palm of one of her hands. "So, are you going to tell me why you took me and my friend hostage?" She said bluntly.

a whole-hearted laughed erupted from Chief Milorious, his shoulders shaking from the sudden burst of euphoria. "Oh, dear girl," He tried through his laughter. "I wouldn't word it so harshly. After all, it was you two who stumbled into us. That boy of yours had attempted to attack one of my own, while you had found your way into one of our traps."

Alexis held back from snickering when Milorious referred to Journey as a 'he' for the, what? Fourth, fifth time? It was a little amusing to her. Not because the guy couldn't figure out Journey was a girl, because not even Alexis herself had figured it out on her own, but because she could see Journey's annoyed and disgusted look playing in her mind. She could also imagen Journey lunging herself at the chief without hesitation.

Something about it was just funny to her. There was no real way to explain how so.

"True," Alexis reluctantly agreed, pushing her previous thoughts aside. "But I didn't even mean to end up there, and I'm sure Jou- my friend.. was just frightened and figured your guards were threats."

Again, the man laughed. "Oh-ho, I doubt that young man felt any kind of fear with that overconfident attack of his."

At that, the young girl pressed her lips into a line. Despite how odd Journey was, she had admit that the mute girl had no shame in whatever action she took. There was no hesitation in anything she did.

Adjusting her chin to her other hand, Alexis sighed. "Okay fine," she admitted. "I can believe that. But why am I still here?"

"Well, now that could be explained in various ways depending on how you look at it all," The chief vaguely explained, almost wistfully as he gazed at Alexis with an odd glint in his eyes.

What the hell was he getting at? Alexis thought to herself. "Can you cut the crap and just tell me what you want? My boredom and frustration is starting to easily out way my fear."

Milorious narrowed his eyes toward the girl. "Ya' know the more I listen to you, the more I realize how little you control that mouth of yours."

"Take it as a blessing," Alexis scoffed. "Because frankly, I don't want to talk to you at all."

"Yes, I don't really care," The chief muttered out with a dismissive wave of his hand. He then leaned his body forward with new found interest. "Tell me how you do it."

The young thief blinked. "Do... what?"

"Don't play foolish with me, girl," The chief tutted. "Come now, tell me."

Alexis gritted her teeth. She was starting to grow a reasonable hatred toward people who thought being vague while talking to her would give them any sort of information. It was grating on her nerves. Couldn't someone just be straight forward for once? Seriously!

"I don't know what you're talking about," Alexis sternly stated.

"Your inhuman ability to wield time; how do you do it?"

A sharp inhale echoed through the dining room, then a burst of sudden laughter. Alexis draped a hand across her stomach as every muscle in her tightened from both hysteria and shock at the guy's claim.

Where in hell did he get such a ludicrous idea? To be honest, it wasn't all that funny, but nonetheless she laughed. Maybe it was because she was so tense, but the fact that he had tied her up, taken her companion, dragged her to dinner, and then assumed such a wild thing about her was just hysterical.

"What is it with people outside of Crew's City and fairytales?" She asked, her laughter only dying down a little. "I haven't meant many people out here yet, but so far, the majority think I'm some kind of goddess."

Chief Milorious looked at her in disbelief as she took a moment to calm herself down.

Alexis blinked rapidly to get rid of the tears in her eyes, her laughter now subdued to soft chuckling, but when she made eye contact with the chief the young girl clamped her mouth shut.

The look of disbelief she thought she had saw just a millisecond ago had turned into a fixed glare. "I know what I am talking about," The man said firmly. But it sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than Alexis. "The old fool had informed me that you know. He had told me that you were the one!" Anger grew in the chiefs voice. He stood up and slammed his hands onto the table, forks and plates clattering from the impact.

Alexis winced at the force. Man, did this guy have mood swings. Though she was a little confused by his angered shout, she did not open her mouth to ask what he was talking about. Something in the man's eyes told her that if the wrong words rolled off of her tongue, she wouldn't just be dealing with confusing circumstances and idiots who believe in magic.

Chief Milorious exhaled sharply in irritation, locking his gaze with Alexis'. His left eye twitched as he studied her, invisible wheels turning in his head. The room echoed with his heavy, angered breathing. The temperature in the room dropped excessively as the wordless tension stretched on.

Every muscle in the young girl's body started to ache with new apprehension. Sure, Alexis had a big mouth, and she wasn't really all that proud of it, but the consequences for her words never really hit her until things started to overpower her confidence. And this was certainly one of those times, worry building up in her gut. Nervous about what the man might do to her now that she had made him angry.

But before things could change, before a single word could be uttered out of either of them, a guard burst into room.

"The boy escaped!"
