Today is the first day of school for Paul and Y/N, both walking to school together ahead of both their mothers and telling them to keep up. They were both extremely excited but also nervous.

"Come on! Hurry up or you'll be last in class, Y/N!" Paul laughed as he ran along the sidewalk, passing Y/N. Y/N was trying to run but her mother was telling her not to as she would ruin her clothes on her first day. Y/N tried to pass by Paul until he ended up tripping over a rock and falling on a puddle of water.

"Ah! Paulie, are you okay!?" Y/N ran over to Paul to see him try to stand up as he was in tears. He cried quietly, hoping that Y/N wouldn't hear him in pain after the embarrassing fall from trying to tease her.

"I-I'm fine! Boys don't cry!" Paul said as he used his sleeves to wipe away the tears.

It had been that Paul had cut himself while tripping on the gravel of the sidewalk. His knee had now a bloody mark with dirt and gravel.

"Paulie, it's okay to cry if you are hurt! Here, let me see if I have an Elastoplast..." Y/N mumbles at the last sentence while rummaging through her backpack, trying to find if she had ever packed it in case of emergencies. As she was searching through her backpack, her mother had approached her and got down to speak to her.

Y/N's mother said, "Sweetie, you remember that when there is dirt on a cut, we...?"

"Have to sanitize it first!" Y/N replied, attentive to what she needed to do now.

"Paulie, is it okay if I can put some alcohol on it to clean up the cut?" Y/N asked, a little hesitant and scared that maybe he would get mad that it would burn.

"Y-yeah, I am a boy so I will be tough, there is no need to worry about me." Paul said with confidence but as he said this, he realized what kind of pain that would put him, but to be strong he had to endure the pain. As Y/N began to sanitize the cut he winced at the pain every time she dabbed the alcohol cloth onto the wound. He was on the verge of tears every couple seconds but as Y/N looked at him with a look of worry while trying to reassure him, he knew he didn't want to worry her over a wound that he caused out of stupidity. Although to him it felt like hours with Y/N cleaning him, it only was a few minutes and with that, he was bandaged up and ready to continue walking to school.

As they made it to the school, the mothers have said their goodbyes with some tears being held back from the mothers. As the mothers walked away and back home, Paul and Y/N were walking together now, and since knowing they would be in the same class, there was no need to worry about not making any friends on the first day when they already had each other. Paul seemed to have gotten more nervous as he entered the school that he was biting his nails as they began to make their way to the classroom. Since Y/N noticed that Paul was having a nervous moment, Y/N went and held his hand gently, hoping that it would have calmed him down a little more. As she held his hand, he became flustered and stopped biting his nails. He was a little calmer and responded to the gentle hand hold. He looked at her and smiled softly, feeling as if there was no need to communicate by speaking to each other, but just by the way they look at each other they would know what the other would be saying.

"Thank you, Y/N. I am just nervous if I will ever make more friends." Paul said, trying to be a little quiet so not many would hear him.

"Oh, I am sure you will make lots of friends." Y/N responded, softly in response.

"But even if I don't make friends, I will always have you as my best friend. Right?" Paul asked, hoping to get the response he is looking for.

"Of course, just as long as you'll always be my friend too!" Y/N replied, with a smile full of hope.

"Glad to hear it! Now where should we sit?" Paul asked, looking over to two empty desks that were right by each other. It was the perfect pair of desks for them. 'I am so glad they have two open desks for us to sit right next to each other, that way I can always be next to Y/N at all times', Paul thought to himself as he walked with Y/N to their new desks.

"Well, let's do our best this year, Paul!" Y/N replied to Paul, happy and excited to see what their first year of school would have waiting in store for them.

"Yes, and so do I" Paul laughed.

As they were giggling and playing around with each other, they heard the floor make a sound as if someone was wearing heels. A lady had closed the door and walked towards the front of the classroom to then look at the class and smile.

"Welcome children, to your first day of school! I hope that all of you enjoy today and continue to enjoy more days to come and to also learn each day as you grow." The teacher responded, happy to see such a young and adorable class of children.

'This is going to be a great day' Both Paul and Y/N said to themselves as they turned to smile at one another.
