Derek - Child Blabbing

Request from @a-woman-with-claws-and-fangs on Tumblr. It's their birthday 🎂 Can I request for Derek where the reader is heavily tattooed and she is working at the hospital. She doesn’t think Derek would go out with her because of how she looks. But when her son comes to the hospital as a patient, he ends up saying that she has a crush on him.

"Morning Gale, so how are you doing today?" I lift my head up from my son's bedside to see one of my coworkers and crush Derek Shepherd standing in the doorway. My ten year old son puts the TV remote in his lap smiling at him. He was told to stay in the hospital for a few weeks after he got hit in the head with a baseball giving him a small concussion. I have been working at Seattle Grace almost as long as Derek. Long enough to develop a massive crush on him. "My mom was talking to you in her sleep. She said she wished you would kiss her." Gale suddenly blurted out making me whip my head around to him in pure horror.

My son is so smart but I never thought he would out me like that. I get up from my chair grabbing my charts brushing past Derek who follows me through the hallways until I get to a supply closest. I closed the door pushing my sleeves up to see multiple tattoos I decided to get when I turned eighteenth. I went through a reckless faze which resulted in me getting pregnant with Gale when I was still a minor. "Y/n, can I come in there?" Derek's voice comes through the door and I remembered he followed me. The only reason I haven't told him my true feelings is because I am afraid he won't want to date someone who has a bunch of tattoos and is a single parent.

The doors handle turned and he bends down on a knee lifting my face up so I'm staring into his eyes. He wipes away my tears with hus jacket sleeve slowly whispering. "You don't have any reason to be crying over what Gale said." I push away from him hugging my knees to my chest. "Yes I do because there's no way in the world that you feel the same way...I mean honestly who would want to date someone who has a child and got way to many tattoos because she thought that's how you fit in to be cool-" He cuts off my rant by crashing his lips onto mine slowly kissing me. I gasped taken back by his actions but once I registered I kiss him back getting caught up in the wonderful feeling.

"There's no one else I'd rather date then you, Y/n L/n." He breaths out resting his forehead against mine. My hands resting on his shoulders as I try to catch my breath. My eyes drifted up to stare into his pure one's that I could get lost in for hours. "What made you fall for someone like me, Derek. I mean you can have anyone in this hospital. So why me?" I dared to ask feeling him take a seat in front of me, cupping my face in his hands smiling. "I chose you because you don't try and be something you're not. You take time out of your lunch break everyday to go see your son. Even when you're exhausted and just want to nap in an on call room. You still put your full attention into whatever your doing." I feel a smile form on my face as I lean up pressing my lips to his and he kisses back until I broke it chuckling. "I guess Gale found a better daddy to look up to."
