If anyone had told you hundreds of years ago that one of your worst days would lead into the best one, you would have laughed in their face. Today would prove you wrong, though, as you thought back on these past few years.

Approximately two hundred years ago, you became a vampire. Your once friend Reverend Horace Black turned you and convinced you to join his cult after successfully founding your then home of Whitechapel.

While it started out fine, having power and authority over your city was definitely appealing and gave you the opportunity of having a "perfect" life, not everyone had your self-control and it quickly went off the rails.

Soon, Reverend Black and his followers became a menace to other townspeople and it turned into too much for you, getting Horace to escape from their grip right before the rest were eliminated by the human population of your town.

"What now? Was this your plan? Did you just use me to escape?" You asked, pointing an accusatory finger at his thoughtful face. He did not reply, dragging you to a town as far away as possible from Whitechapel. And that was the last time you were allowed to speak about what had just happened.

You both lived in the shadows until you were almost sure everyone in Whitechapel had forgotten the place's history and turned the idea of "vampirism" into urban legend-like stuff of fantasy, seen in the "Dusk" movies that became popular at that time.

As you went back, Horace told you of a plan to remake your lives in the city, taking the name "Jesse" and acting as a high schooler to seem unsuspecting. By that point, you were tired of running away from your past and agreed, officially becoming the "(Y/N) Blake" you are today.

It was perfect, you both had a peaceful life and made friends quickly, and it finally felt like you were starting to enjoy your time with Jesse as your friend again. You had the feeling that his plans were never what they seemed like since his horrible actions in the past, but you could never be sure of that.

Until he proved you right.

The memories still hurt you, and you winced as you thought back on the day you found out Jesse had turned your best friends Sarah and Erica into fledgelings. While Erica quickly became a full vampire, Sarah refused and you swore to help her as you related to her in that sense, it had taken you a longer time to accept your fate and complete your transformation.

The process was not easy, but you had great help. You both met two classmates, Ethan and Benny, who were way more interested than you on the supernatural and helped you take on the challenges of keeping Sarah safe, and Benny's grandmother became sort of a mentor to you all. It took some time, but Erica and Rory joined you and you all became an almost team.

In hundreds of years, you had never felt like you belonged anywhere, running from your history in Whitechapel and constantly thinking about "Jesse"'s actions that left horrible nightmares in your mind. And now you had a group of real friends who did not use you to get power. Friends who listened to you and helped you out with your problems.

Sarah was your support, reminding you that what happened in the past should not define you now and that you were better than that. Benny helped with easing your mind, teaching you whatever he learnt from his grandmother and explaining how your actions did not have any bigger repercussions since you did not actively participate in Jesse's crimes.

Erica and Rory almost felt like your family. Erica was your cool older sister who you knew was dorky in secret because of all the times you walked in on her fangirling over "Dusk" and her new celebrity crush of the month. You almost understood Rory's admiration of her, without the borderline obsession with dating her, of course. And Rory became a constant when you were having a bad day and just needed to know someone out there cared about you.
