2:Pool party.

I'm getting ready for school when I get a texted on our group chat that it's code fish Rikki's out swimming while I'm on a walk. I go to Cleo's house and go to her room she comes out her bathroom "this is a catastrophe of the highest order. Moisturiser is mainly water." Cleo stresses "If dolphins can swim for miles, so can we." Rikki says laying on Cleo's bed i lay next to her re-applying my signature strawberry lip-gloss "we can't go moisturise ever again." Cleo says "we could swim all they way to Fiji. Could you imagine that?" Rikki says "Our skin will be dry and wrinkly. We'll be geriatrics by the time we're 21." Cleo says "Me and Alia missed training today." I nod "for me it's the first time in six years." Emma says "see? See how bad this is? We have to tell somebody. Our parents, a doctor, the police." Cleo says "And end up a mermaid in a straight jacket." I say "with dry skin? Forget it." Rikki adds "Rikki and Alia are right, cleo. We can't tell anyone." Emma says "Not even mum?" Cleo asks "No. No parents." I say "But i tell mum everything." Cleo try's to reason "Well,not this time. It's too dangerous. People just won't understand. We could be locked up." Rikki says "Why would we be locked up?" Cleo asks "Because we're different. Because we can do this other girls can't do. Because there scared of us." Emma says "fine. I won't tell anyone. Except Lewis." Cleo
Says "No cleo, not Lewis." Rikki says "Not anyone." I finish for Rikki "okay, okay." Cleo nods "don't worry I'm really good at keeping secrets." She says.

We all go to school it's passing period when Mariam the bitchy popular girl "now it's party time, people. No excuses in honour of our very own surfing god, the beautiful Byron for winning his special prize." Mariam says "What prize?" Cleo asks "whatever it is they give out for surfing." Mariam says "The coast surf classic. He won by a mile." Emma Says "I was having a spray tan, but I'm sure he was amazing. Rikki, Alia I think I might have a blank." Mariam says " Sorry I'll be flossing my teeth that night." Rikki says "And I'll be doing literally anything else." I say fake smiling as I look in the small mirror I have in my locker putting on my lip-gloss as She just walks away. I walk to my next class and when I bump into Dylan Blake I fucking hate him. I scoff as I walk passed him "bitch." He says "dickhead." I say walking away annoyed.

After school I'm walking with the girls "it's so uncool to miss one of Mariams parties.she won't ask us ever again. " Cleo says "good." I say "so? That's a plus " Rikki says "it's a pool party. I know it's dangerous, but maybe if we told Lewis about us he could look out for us." She says "no." Me and Rikki says "you did the right thing, Cleo. None of us are going. " I say popping a piece of strawberry flavoured Gum into my mouth "no, wait. I think we should go." Emma says "for Byron, not for Miriam. Surfing is a lot like swimming it takes alot of hard work and training. You know what I'm talking about Alia. He needs to know everyone is supporting him." Emma says "Yeah but still I have no reason to go. If I do I'll just see Dylan and I hate him with a passion his an idiot." I say crossing my arms "You like Byron,don't you?" Rikki asks Emma "no way." Emma says "Well you sound like an ad for breakfast cereal." Rikki laughs "Well if we learn more about what's happening to us, we might to be able to control it enough to go to the party." Emma says "Really?" Cleo asks "what's to learn? We touch water and 10 seconds later, we grow tails." I nod "for real." I say "maybe it's about developing some discipline exercising some control." Emma says "That would be perfect. That's great. Control. Then we could go to the party. I'll text Lewis " Cleo says "You do know you have to swim to test this right?" I say "no way forget about it." Cleo says.

So we go to beach this time all of us "Come on it's not even deep here." Rikki says to Cleo "no." She says "please,Cleo?" "No. No." Cleo repeats "Fine. Come on Rikki, Lia." We start walking to the water "control and discipline starts with the mind, so concentrate." Emma instructs"No tail, no tail- no tail" we start repeating until we transform. "Welp." I say swimming behind a rock when we see Lewis. Lewis and Cleo start talking then Lewis says he might join us for a swim we come up that we're naked and he goes away. I swim up to where I left my bag and grab my phone I see I have a message from an unsaved number I'll check it when I'm on land We end up drying and going to Emma's house.
