8: the Denman affiar

We're walking along by the beach and by we I mean: Me, Rikki, cleo, Emma, Lewis and Dylan who now thanks to the moon knows about us, to his credit he has been pretty cool about everything after me explaining it of course, "I have been working all day, every day. And I think I'm getting close to figuring out what your transformations all about." Lewis informs us "Lewis, we've figured that one out ourselves." I say from beside Dylan "Yeah, for me it was the tails. Was it the tails for you, cleo, or-" Rikki starts but gets cut of by cleo "Ease of on Lewis. He's trying to help." Cleo says "exactly! Science is the key that unlocks the door to the mysteries of life. But you don't much care, do you?" Lewis asks as we climb a small hill I hold onto Dylan for support "no." Rikki says "look, guys. In the next week or so, I'm going to have the opportunity to- well, to- forget it." Lewis puts his head down "Lewis! Speak." Rikki instructs the boy "okay. There's someone arriving today. She's doing Dolphin research at the marine park. Her names Denman. She did her PH.D at 21! Can you believe that?" Lewis explains clearly happy "I'm tingling!" Rikki replies dryly "these days she one of the worlds leading experts in aquatic mammalian cellular evolution." Lewis continues and I start to get intrigued "that's so cool." I mutter interested in cellular evolution and exploration Dylan looks over at me seemingly being the only one who heard me he smiles slightly as I keep my focus on Lewis "if I can tap into her research-" Emma cuts Lewis off "and now are you gonna get access to a scientist like her, Lewis?" Emma raises a good question "I have my methods." Lewis states "no way! You're not gonna tell a real scientist about us." Rikki says "guys, it's me! I'll be careful. What do you mean 'real scientist'" Lewis draws his attention to my twin sisters statement "she can't know about us." Emma shuts it down "Lewis it's really cool by we can't risk it." I say "what if she wants to dissect us?" Rikki asks "what if she goes public on us?" Cleo asks "she a marine biologist. And she'll have equipment that makes stuff at school seem like toys." Lewis tries to reason then turns to Dylan for help Dylan puts his hands up "sorry bro but I'm with the girls to risky." Dylan says as I send him a proud look he sends me a smile "if you guys want answers, I need access to it and her research." Lewis adds more information on in hopes to convince us without Dylan's help "and how are you going to do that without spilling your guts about us?" Rikki asks him "I was thinking charm." Lewis says doing a weird ass movement before he keeps walking "no. Seriously." Cleo says with her arms crossed "come on, guys. All I'm asking is that you trust me." Lewis says desperately "okay. We do need to know what's happened to us." Emma says "you'll never get to see her, anyway." Rikki says "yes, I will. Cleo?" Lewis turns to our friend for help and she shrugs.

Me, cleo, Emma and Rikki walk together as Cleo tells us about her interaction with Dr. Denman "Doctor Denman ha! More like doctor baywatch babe. What does she know, anyway?" Cleo says "well, I googled her. She wrote some important paper as part of her PH.D. 'mutations in aquatic mammals'." I inform them "she's got a bit of cred." Emma adds "and she's pretty too." I add remembering the pictures that popped up "ah, she got lucky. I bet she's not even a real blonde." Cleo says desperate to hate on the woman "what?" She asks when we don't say much "im just concerned about Lewis, and how he's feeling right now. You should have seen him before. I mean, what if he's so influenced that he tells her about us?" She defends "clearly." I say referring to her caring about Lewis' feelings as Emma elbows me I groan.

We all sit down in a booth together asking Lewis about his situation with dr denman "and what exactly are you going to say to her, Lewis?" Emma asks "have a little faith, please! All I want is access to her lab. That's it." Lewis defends "yeah that's all you want access to." I mutter "you're a sucker for a pretty face." Emma counters "a pretty face? What, you think I noticed wether she was pretty or not?" Lewis asks as we give him a look "im a scientist. Besides, she wasn't all that special anyway." Lewis says just as his phone rings "ooh, it's her." He says clearly exited as he rushes up from his seat away from us "his got her number programmed into his phone already." Cleo says clearly annoyed, we watch him as he tries to smooth talk "nervous laughter. Not good." Rikki says, my jaw drops when he starts playing with his short hair "is he twirling his hair?" Emma's asks and I nod sipping on my strawberry iced tea, my jaw almost drops again when he hops up to sit on the pool table that people were playing on "his gonna get his ass beat." I say and Emma gags as we starts flirting with the doctor "we're in big trouble." Cleo says as one of the players tries to get Lewis off the table by tapping him, finally he ends the call and comes to sit back down "well, im convinced." Rikki says sarcastically "mhm me too, the hair twirling really convinced me." I add "you can't be trusted." Emma tells him "what?" He asks "Lewis forget about her for a minute. This is us we're talking about. Do not reveal anything to her. Do you understand?" Emma asks "that's gonna be hard for him to do." I mutter "we've got a lot riding on this." Emma adds when he doesn't say anything.
