I walk out of my room running a hand through my hair as I walk into the kitchen and see my mother cooking breakfast. She looks over at me and I give her a a small smile and she returns it. I sit at the counter and yawn. "Did you get any sleep last night" My mom says putting bacon and eggs on a plate sitting in in front of me. I pick up my fork "Of course I got sleep ma" I say before stuffing my face with a fork full of food.
Mason walks out of his room his hair messy and still in his PJs. He sits by me and my mom sets his plate in front of him. "How did you sleep hunny?" My mom asks him. He yawns. "Alright" he says before taking a bite of his food. "This food is delicious!"I compliment with my mouth half full. My mom laughs a little "thank you sweetie and don't talk with your mouth full!" She says. I laugh a little and finishes my food and get up and put in the sink and go back into my room.
I walk in my room shutting the door behind me. I grab a outfit from my closet and change into it and throw my dirty clothes in the hamper. I walk outta my room and into the bathroom and wet my tooth brush and put toothpaste on it and brush my teeth then rinse it off. I grab my hair brush and brush my hair.
I walk out of the bathroom and into the living room and find my shoes and slide them on I grab my book bag. "Oh sweetie will you plz walk your brother to school? I don't want him walking alone on his first day!" My mom asks me. "Alright" I groan. I stand by the door waiting for Mason. After a little bit he walks out of his room and grabs his bag.
We walk outta the apartment. I see a black haired boy around my age walk outta the apartment across from ours. He looks over at us. I smile slightly and we begin walking to mason's school.
After I dropped Mason off at his school I went to mine. I walked in and looked around. The school wasn't bad and the people didn't really look mean.I see the boy I saw at my apartment building looking around. He must be new like me. I walk over to him "hey um are you new here?" I ask. He looks at me and smiles and rubs the back of his neck. "Yeah" he says. I laugh a little. "Same and also,I'm Valerie!"I say. He smiles. "Miguel" he says.
It was lunch time and me and Miguel have half of are lessons together. We got are trays and looked around the lunch room we walk to a table with two boys at it. "Hey,is it ok if we sit here?"Miguel asks. "Oh sorry these seats are booked" one of the boys say. I look slightly down not knowing if he was being sarcastic or not. The other boy caught my eye I looked at him he was hiding the bottom part of his face. He didn't say a word. "Oh ok" Miguel said and started walking away. "I was being sarcastic,Yeah of course y'all can sit here"The boy said.Me and Miguel sat down at the table. "I'm Demetri And this is Eli he's a man of few words" He said. I looked over at Eli again this time he was looking at me and had his sleeve away from his mouth and I could she that his lip was messed up. I softly smiled at him.
"I'm Miguel and this is Valerie!"Miguel said starting a conversation with Demetri. I slightly listened as I ate sometimes glancing at Eli. "Oh god the rich girls are looking at us probably making fun of my lip"Eli said. I looked at him. "I wouldn't understand why it's unique and cute" I say reassuring him with a smile. He smiled back. I looked away and continued eating as Demetri and Miguel kept talking.
It was the end of the school day and I was walking home with Miguel and he was talking about this Karate dojo. "You should join val! I think you'd be great at it!"He exclaimed. I looked at him and laughed a little. "I'll think about it mig" I say as we got in front of my apartment. We said are goodbyes and I walked in. I saw my mom on the couch looking worried and she was hovering over someone. I walked into the living room and saw my brother on the couch beaten up.
I felt anger rise in me making my blood boil. "W-who did this mas?!"I said with anger in my voice. He looked at me. "Some boys at school..they got me good val.."He said sounding defeated which made me wanna cry. I walked back to my room and flopped down on my bed and went on my phone and tapped on Miguels contact
Miguel Hey mig about that karate Thing I'm in.

I put my phone down and slightly sighed. I couldn't get the image of my brother beat up and they way he sounded defeated. I wanted the boys who did that to him to pay. I wanted to kick their ass.
