We ended up making it to school on time and we were even early to our first class. Math. Ugh. At least my first class was with Casey. I tapped her desk twice with my pencil. a signal we came up with 2 years ago. Tapping twice meant to not worry, and tapping 3 times meant that we were in danger of a test or pop quiz. She nodded her head and gave me an approving look. We would take one test in each class that decides whether we would move to an advanced highschool class or a decreased highschool class. If we wanted to get into a good college we had to make it into all upper level classes, but math was not my best subject, so I was a bit worried. Miss Amelia walked around stiffly handing out tests. "Once all tests have been handed out you will have 45 minutes to complete them. There are only 20 questions, so take you time." Miss Amelia says. I twirl my pencil between my fingers, and Casey chews on hers. "Ok. YOU MAY BEGIN!" Says Miss Amelia. I began furiously writing down the problem and solving it.
