I wrote this one a while ago and I found it kinda laying around my Google Docs so I decided to post this. Hope you enjoy it!
Alma sat in her apartment, in front of her computer practicing her hacking skills. She was finding random websites on the internet and hacking into them, just to see what kind of security they have and keep her skills fresh. As she was hacking away at a website she heard a knocking on her. At first, she didn't think anything of it but then the knocks got louder. She then heard a voice from behind the door. "Open up! We have a warrant for your arrest!" Alma's turned to look at her front door. {Damn, what are the cops doing here?} There was more loud knocking. "If you do not open up we will kick your door down! Open up now!" Alma sighed and shut her computer off. "Alright! I'm opening up..." She stood up and walked over to her door, unlocking her door and opening it. As soon as she opened it, a pair of handcuffs were slapped around her wrists and before she knew it, she was being dragged out of her apartment. "Hey! What's the meaning of this?"
When they got outside, the police officers brought Alma to an unmarked police car and took the cuffs off her hand. "Get in..." The officers opened the back door and motioned for her to get in the car. "What's going on? Why am I out here?" "Someone needs to speak with you, just get in." One of the officers said. "Who?" Alma asked. "Me..." A man said from inside the car. Alma looked into the car and saw that this was no police car. A man in a suit sat in the back and looked at her. "Please, get in." He said calmly. Alma got into the car and the door was shut behind her. The officers got into the front seats of the car and began driving. "What's the meaning of this? Who are you?' Alma demanded. "I apologize for everything that happened these past few minutes. This isn't how I wanted us to meet but this was the only way that I would have been able to get ahold of you."
The man extended his hand out to Alma for a handshake. Alma cautiously shook the man's hand. "I can't disclose my name to you for the sake of both of us. But what I can tell you is that as it stands right now, you are wanted for essentially every single cyber crime in the book. And that if found guilty on just a few of them, you would be looking at some serious prison time." The man said. "Okay? What's it to you?" Alma said, still not sure what was going on. "Well... I just so happen to have a few connections that will void you of all those crimes forever. And you won't ever spend a second in prison or even in court." Alma raised an eyebrow, intrigued by what this man was saying. "And?" The man reached into his briefcase and pulled out a folder. "Of course, if you want your freedom then you'll need to do something for me." He hands the folder to Alma and closes his briefcase. "Don't open that until you get back to your apartment." Alma nodded and set the folder on her lap. "So what am I doing?"
"Well... You are quite the hacker as your records show. It would be reasonable to assume you know a thing or two about computers and cracking into even some of the most complex security systems online." Alma nods, proudly thinking of her past hacking achievements, even if some of them were malicious to some extent. "Currently, I have a need for someone like you. We've been trying to do... Figure somethings out about a wanted criminal. But the information we need is locked on a network that we can't crack into from here." The car stops out back of Alma's apartment. "The rest of the details, if you accept this offer, are in that envelope. If you don't accept then I'm afraid I won't be able to help you with whatever comes in the future. If you do accept, then you'll be a free person." The man paused for a moment. "Take all the time you need to think about this. It is your freedom after all."
Alma thought about the proposition for a moment. She still didn't know exactly what she was going to be doing but she knew that her past was finally catching up to her and she didn't want to spend time in prison. Especially the prisons in Glitch City, known for their terrible conditions and inmates frequently dying while locked in there. "I'll do it..." Alma said confidently. What was the worst that could happen? The man smiled and the door opened up. "I'm pleased to hear! Take that to your apartment and make sure no one sees you." Alma steps out of the car, closing the door behind her. The car drives off and Alma makes her way back to her apartment.
