When Yuzuru had solely disappeared from her sight, her world was suddenly put on mute.In the cold and now lonely turned surroundings of a night, Gabriella was walking to Joanna's apartment when she received a call that rang out amidst the silence.
For no particular reason, a sunken and ominous feeling embraced her. She felt as though something was wrong, and the call was somehow cryptic.
Her heartbeat raised in much worry. She didn't know where the sentiment was coming from, but she could feel it greatly pulling on her.
As she took the ringing phone out of her pocket, her hand was trembling, almost unwilling to answer the call.
Nonetheless, she picked up. She didn't recognize the number, which made her worry all the more.
"Hello... who is this?" She nervously asked while being surrounded by a sea of silence.
A familiar voice spoke. "Hi, Gabriella. It's dad." Though familiar, her father's tone was sunken. It wasn't hailing, it seemed more so like it was unwilling.
"Dad, is there something wrong? You never usually call me at this time, and why are you calling from a different number?" Gabriella tensed up as she inquired.
The spaces between their responses were eating her up. Any minute that she wasn't aware of what was going on made her all the more uneasy.
Eventually, her father spoke reluctantly,
"Gabriella... your mom is currently in the hospital."
Gabriella's grasp on her phone loosened, and she was met with much confusion and distress.
"W-what happened?" She softly tried to implore.
As her father explained the events of the day, detail by detail, Gabriella was on a spectrum of emotions. Confusion? Worry? Fear? They were all sitting ducks in her head.
Though her father told her not to worry about them, her feelings regarding the matter were just out of control. They were her parents, and even if she doesn't say it or openly think about it, they will always be in the back of her mind, and she'd always worry about them.
As soon as the phone call ended, Gabriella reached Joanna's unit, thinking of the best way to go about the situation.
She decided that it might be for the best to take an early flight back to Korea so she could be with her parents. With that in mind, Gabriella knocked on the doors of Joanna's apartment, knowing that she was already there.
"How was your day?" Joanna heartily welcomed her. She took a few moments to discern Gabriella's expression and it didn't take her a long time to know that something was wrong.
"Did something happen with Yuzuru?" She ushered Gabriella into the apartment as she questioned. With a distraught and unconscious smile, Gabriella shook her head.
"Then why do you look so down?" Joanna approached her and asked.
Gradually, Gabriella tried to explain what apparently happened.
"My mom... she's in the hospital right now. I can't help but feel like I was part of the reason why... " Gabriella explained with a tone of guilt.
