"Peter, if Caspian has meant to harm Susan, he would've already done it. Telmarines are impulsive."

"I just keep thinking of her time with Rabadash."

"You weren't even there, Peter. And I was the one he dealt with. Lucy told me that when everyone got back to Cair Paravel, Ivar and Susan locked themselves in their rooms and cried over me. Stop directing your anger onto someone who is nothing like a monster. Do you know what Edmund said about Rabadash?"

"What did he say?"

"It was when we were in Anvard, deciding what to do with him. Edmund said, even a traitor may mend, I know one that did. Edmund was talking about himself. And may I say, you are way more impulsive than the Telmarines ever could be. Oh, your impulsiveness almost drove the whole family to our graves a few times!"

Peter's first thought when Kayla said that was when they battled the White Witch. He wanted to be the only one of the family on the battlefield.

"Why do you relate to Caspian so much, Kayla?"

"Isn't it obvious? We both had our parents killed by a family member. Someone we're supposed to trust. Not that you Pevensies and Ivar's parents didn't die from that. We are related to Jadis. Her nephew was our great-grandfather, remember?"

"I remember."

Back in the Narnian countryside, Susan was telling Caspian the stories of her time in the Golden Age.

"When we first stepped on this side of the wardrobe, Peter, Ivar, and I were in absolute shock. Kayla was the only one who believed Lucy when she first said she had visited here, and on Lucy's second time here, she brought Kayla with her."

"What did Edmund think?"

"That was back when Edmund was still a prat. His first time here was during Lucy's second time. He was looking for Lucy and Kayla, but instead, he found the White Witch. I think Kayla still has the book Mr. Tumnus gave to her. Wait, of course she does. It was in her chest of things in the treasure room."

"How old were you when you were crowned, your majesty?"

"I was thirteen going on fourteen."

"Well, you know everything about me now, but I don't know everything about you."

"What would you like to know?"

"The same things you asked of me. Your habits, your favourite things, your dislikes. To start off, your majesty, when is your birthday?"

"My birthday is December sixteenth. I remember for my first birthday after we were crowned, Edmund and Kayla decided to pull a prank on me, and they dumped a bucket of snow on me. I ended up chasing them outside in the snow in just my night clothes, and it is still a wonder how I did not get any frostbite."

"Winter has never suited me. I wonder if it's from my ancestors who came from the other world."

"Your accent sounds what we would call in the other world Spanish, or maybe Italian. Your complexion screams Mediterranean."

"Mediterranean?"

Susan looked at Caspian's face and she blushed a bit, enjoying his obvious confusion. She had to admit, he looked adorable when he was confused.

"The Mediterranean is a sea in my world. The majority of the people who live around it have a natural-born tan complexion, like yours, Caspian. Also, there is another sea in my world called the Caspian Sea."

"Do you suppose that is where my name comes from?"

"Most likely. I still never thought I would see the day when Ivar and Kayla would fall in love with each other, but we all saw it coming."

"I did notice the tension between them when I first met you all."

"They have been at each other's throats for as long as I've known them."

"What about your childhood here?"

Susan laid down on the grass, trying to think back to her Narnian childhood. She wondered how many of her memories had returned to her.

"I think, I think I can remember going flower picking with Aintín Faoiltiama. She was Aslan's first child. My mother, I wouldn't say she was a fragile thing, but everyone was careful with her. Much like Aintín Úna, Kayla's mother. But I think everyone was careful with my mother because she was the youngest, always had to be looked after."

"What was your mother's name?"

"Alainnabh. It means darling child."

"And, from what my childhood nurse and Professor Cornelius have read to me, your birth name is Rosheen, isn't it?"

"Yes."

"And what does that name mean?"

"It means lily, the same that my name Susan means. Just like with Peter, his name means rock, as does his birth name Albanach. Edmund, his name was Lunradmund, both mean rich protection. Lucy, her name means light, as does her birth name Eibhlilín. Ivar, his name means bow warrior, like his birth name Íomhar. And Kayla, her birth name of Caoilfhionn means pure and fair. It was prophecied that when we were sent to the other world, our names would change, but not the meanings of our names."

"So, how much older than me are you?"

"Mmm, in Narnian years, 2,083."

"Yet, you don't look it."

"That was Aslan's doing, I always say."

"So, what all happened in the Rabadash incident, may I ask? All I know is what Professor Cornelius told me-"

"But he doesn't know all of the details. It was our first full day in Tashbaan when it started. Rabadash, Edmund, Ivar, Prince Corin of Archenland, Lord Peridan, and myself, were all going to go riding, when Kayla caught one of the horse masters whipping her horse Erdudvyl. Kayla almost strangled the man to death. She screamed for Rabadash to bring one of his physicians to look at Erdudvyl, and Rabadash proceeded to call all of us barbarians. We knew then and there we need to leave Calormen."

"I had heard Calormenes can be cruel to animals."

"We fled the Tashbaan palace with some difficulty, and we spent the night at an inn. That is when Corin met his brother Cor, but that is another story. As we were heading toward the docks where our ship was, Rabadash and his men came upon us. Kayla was purposely moving slowly. She kept saying one of us would have to stay behind. She commanded the rest of us to get on the ship, but Ivar refused to. That was when their first kiss happened, and then he finally got on the ship. She lunged at Rabadash, while he was atop his horse, and we shoved off home. When we got back to Cair Paravel, Ivar and I locked ourselves in our rooms, and for the first time in fifteen years, Ivar cried. We were both crying for the same reason. If you want to know what Rabadash did to Kayla, you'll have to ask her. I don't feel it's my place to give away those details, and there is something about her time then that she is not telling us."

"I don't feel it is my place to ask her. Well, your majesty, should we head back to the citadel before it gets dark?"

"Yes, we should. Peter already doesn't like us being alone here."

"He is no doubt just being a protective brother."

"Yes, he is."

They made it back to the Telmarine citadel before it got too dark, with not even an eyebrow raise from Peter.
