Toga disappeared and Dabi stood up. He stretched, yawned, then groaned before looking at me and winking. "Grab me the med kit and some deluded bleach, will ya?" He asked, and tossed his jacket at me. I caught it and chuckled.

"Sure thing, hot stuff." I replied, then scurried out of the room before I could even feel embarrassed.

Twenty minutes and a whole spool of bandages later, we had a burn victim laying on the couch with Toga's Cotton Candy themed, blood-stained blanket draped over them.

"Who is it?" Dabi asked, obviously a little pissed off from having to treat some random persons wounds. When we went to help them, we expected it to be Shigaraki - whom Kurogiri sent out to do hell knows what, a day and a half ago - and were not-so-pleasently surprised to find that it was not Shigaraki - or anyone in the League, for that matter - but some random burn victim Toga and Twice had found.

"I don't know," Toga said "but he's really pretty. When we found him he was screaming because of how bad he was hurt. It was so cute!" Her gaze was fixated on the man on the couch and she started moving toward him. Twice put his hand on her shoulder to stop her and looked up at us.

He had taken his mask off when he'd dropped the poor man down the stairs and was now looking incredibly worried and also a bit jealous. "Is he gonna be okay? I hope he dies painfully."

Dabi chuckled and shook his head. "It's too early to tell. But one thing's for sure; if he survives, I won't be the only purple bitch in this place."

"Can we keep him?" Toga asked, looking up from the man on the couch. She looked feral. "He's already stained my blanket a bit."

"How can you tell?" I asked.

"I memorized the stains and there are new ones."

"Gross."

"Thank you!"

I shook my head and looked at Dabi. "What do you think?" Dabi just sighed and put his arm around my shoulders. My face flushed a bright red and I looked at the other two. "TnT, meet our newest recruit!" I said. Toga cheered and Twice just kinda squinted his eyes a bit.

Dabi pulled me in a bit tighter and it was then I knew he was trembling. "Are you alright?" I whispered. He ignored me and told the other two in the room to get Kurogiri to look after the guy on the couch so he could go lay down. I expected him to let me go but, if anything, he pulled me even closer. We walked back to his room and he let me go so he could fall face-first on to his bed.

"What're we gonna do? Boss is gonna kill me." His shoulders shook, and if I didn't know any better I would think he was crying. He lifted his face out of the mattress and looked at me, blood running down his face. "We might have to kill him."

I sat down on the bed and put my hand on his back, fiddling with the staples through his thin muscle-tank. "Maybe," I replied, but inside I was thrilled. A murder! My favorite part of the job! I moved my hand down to rub his back, then back up to play with his hair. "It's gonna be okay."

Oh, how wrong I was about that. If I had know the sense of false security I had implanted in Dabi in that moment, I never would've said it. But words can't be taken back, and for that, I am truly sorry.

Dabi sat up and I moved my hands to rest in my lap. I was so focused on them that I didn't see his hand reaching for my wings until he was basically touching them. Maybe I overreacted a bit, but within seconds I had him pinned to the bed with the blade I keep hidden on me at all times pressed against his neck.

"Okay pretty bird," he chuckled "I get it. Don't touch the wings."

I blinked a few times, then immediately rushed to get off of him. "Sorry," I mumbled.

"Nah, I get it." He said. "I'm guessin', based on how boss found ya the first time, you have a history of someone fuckin with your wings." I nodded, avoiding eye contact. He was silent for a moment and I thought I was going to receive a heartfelt story about how someone hurt something or someone dear to him, but all he said was "So... Can I touch your wings?"

I stared at him a moment, then burst into laughter. "What the fuck?" I asked.

"What?" Dabi replied, laughing as well. "It was a genuine question! They look soft; I wanna touch 'em."

It took me a second to calm down, but eventually I just nodded and turned my wings to him. To say that someone touching them is a foreign concept and also feels really fuckin weird is an understatement. At that point in my life, I hadn't had someone close enough to me to actually want to touch my wings. Of course there was the occasional child or villain, but obviously I wasn't going to let some random weirdo touch.

I shivered as his hand brushed against the base and jerked away when he did it again. "Sorry! I'm sorry," I said, "It just feels really weird." Dabi nodded and rested his hand between my shoulder blades; his rough skin scratched my back and the staples holding his hand together were strangely cold.

He leaned in and rested his chin on my shoulder. "Hey birdie, why don't we have some fun?" I shivered again and made the worst decision of my life; I agreed.

"Hawks!" Dabi shouted, vaulting over another gap in the roofs "Slow down, you dumb bird!"

"No!" I shouted back, gliding along the night sky. "You have to catch me!"

It had been two months since that night and I felt impenetrable, untouchable, and indestructible. Shigaraki had returned, completely unharmed, but with the story of a lifetime and had even greeted the new recruit with open arms. Aoi had a useful quirk; the ability to grow flowers and plants in an instant, most of which are either poisonous or have healing properties. Unfortunately, we found this out during a friendly game of "Roast Members Of The LoV Until One Of Them Decides They've Had Enough And Almost Kills Everyone".

Dabi and I were in a relationship and I was blissfully ignorant to the impending doom closing in on us from all sides. This night was the night of our downfall.

I landed on a roof a few ahead of Dabi and took a break to rest my wings. We had been running around for a few hours now, dipping in and out of sight of the heroes on night patrol.

He came up behind me and placed his hand between my shoulder blades. "I caught ya, do I get a prize?" He whispered, his voice was rough, as it usually is - but heavy and drowsy, and obviously put of breath.

"Maybe," I replied, "If you can be good." I turned my head to kiss him, but caught sight of something out of the corner of my eye. "What was that?"

"What was what?" I stood up and walked to the edge of the roof.

"Are you sure this area is safe?" I turned around, "There are absolutely no heroes on patrol here?"

Dabi nodded. "Relax, I've been scoping out this area for months and it's the same patterns every time. We're fine."

I relaxed, as Dabi said to. 'I trust him,' I thought. 'I trust this man completely.'

But I shouldn't have.

Because as I took a step away from the edge, someone grabbed my wings, and I was pulled down. A shock went through me. I couldn't move, I couldn't think. All I heard, as I fell down the side of this ten story building was my name, my real name, shouted loud and fierce. The sound reverberated through me, and I shouted back, trying to stretch my wings out so I could glide down to the ground without getting hurt.

All I heard was a snap before everything went black.
