I woke up with Cole's limp arms around me. His steady breathing made his chest rise up and down in rythem. In fear of waking him, I tried not to move.
Cole's face looked years younger, stress off his face. His brown hair lay in his face, and I was tempted to sweep it out of his eyes. Suddenly, his green eyes open and pearced into mine.
"You're up," he whispered, smiling.
His arms removed themselves from around me and stretched.
"I've been up, you've been sleeping."
He snorted, "You kicked me half the night, I was up."
I felt myself blush.
This time, Cole stayed by my side. The day passed easily as we played board games and watched T.V. He didn't even seem bothered when the nurse came in to set things up. He actually started a conversation with her.
"So. Have you alway's been Beau's nurse?" He asked her.
"Since he came here, yes," she answered.
"Is he always such a bundle of sunshine?" he smirked at her. She giggled.
"Oh yes. Beau's quite the character."
They went on to talk about me like I wasn't there, and I crossed my arms in protest. Chatter filled the room, ignoring my stance.
"Yo people. I am here you know." I stated.
Both of them rolled their eyes.
"Always the dramatic," my nurse said. She finished what she was doing and then left. Not before winking at us though.
This time I rolled my eyes.
For the rest of the day Cole and I played 20 question's and tried to pass time. It worked easily. Night time rolled around quickly, Cole stood at the bottom of my bed in question.
"You can come in, the water's fine," I told him.
His green eyes looked up at me. Although I gave him premision, he didn't move from his spot near my bed.
"Seriously, we both know you won't get any sleep on that cot," I pointed out.
Finally Cole's feet shuffled next to me, and he looked down on me. However, he didn't get in.
"Get in, Cole." I sighed.
I noticed his eyes sweep the length of my body and I blushed.
"What?" I snapped at him.
He brought his eyes back to mine and he smirked.
"Nothing."
I squirmed at my spot. The lights were off and the only light in the room was coming in from the window. The city lights illuminated for miles. His body was outlined by a thin light.
"Then why are you standing there?" I asked him.
"Because I don't know what we are, and the way it felt last night.." He trailed off trying to find what to say. "I would just rather know what I'm getting myself into."
People's feet shuffled outside, but I knew they wouldn't come inside. I averted my eyes to the door instead of Cole's face.
"Beau. Please."
"I don't know what we are," I answered him honestly.
His jaw clenched, and this time he looked away first.
"God damnit, Beau," his tone was harsh.
I flinched at his words.
"I'm sorry, I just want to know," he said softer now.
