Three years later, Duncan looked down in shock at the five year old who had just walked into the store he and his siblings owned, grabbed a few snacks, some soda, and several ribbons, then walked up to the counter to pay for them, which was where they were now. "Sunny Baudelaire?"
The youngest Baudelaire blinked up at him in confusion, like she couldn't quite remember him. "Quigley Quagmire?"
Duncan shook his head, unable to help the twinge of annoyance he felt at the question. "Not Quigley. Duncan."
Sunny pulled out some money to pay for the snacks. "What are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here?" He repeated, amazed she still remembered him as he absentmindedly took the money. "How did you get here?"
The girl grinned and pointed at the beach. "Boat."
Duncan stood up and, sure enough, there was a small sailboat being dragged onto the beach by a young woman with long brown hair and a boy with glasses.
He stood in shock for a moment before opening a door that led to some stairs, that led to the Quagmire's apartment, directly above the store. "Quigley! Isadora! It's the Baudelaires!"
There was a loud thud and Quigley came sliding around to the top of the stairs, riding the handrail down, with Isadora thundering down close behind.
The Baudelaires.
Finally.
