I dropped the food, now more worried about the cop car chasing me with no sign of stopping
I ducked into the forest to try and hide from him, but he still followed. I twisted and zigzagged but he was STILL determined
You're gonna get caught
Might as well fight
Fight him
Fight him!
He's going to catch you then attack you!
I stumbled over a fallen tree, rolling down a small hill
As I stumbled to get up, I felt something different. I didn't just feel the determination from the cop, but also fear. But it wasn't coming from the officer, it was farther away. It was a mixture of fear and content, anger and depression. I figured that if there was that much of a mix of emotions then there was surely a large group of people.
I raced towards the emotions, the thoughts of flight and the thoughts of riot. My legs felt like jello but the promise of a hiding place made me continue
Nearly there! Almost there!
You'll never make it
You're gonna get caught
You're gonna die out here like a dog
I pushed the negative thoughts out of my mind, feeling the officers thoughts and feelings disappearing quickly behind me.
Coming to an iron-rod fence, I looked around for a way to either get around or climb over. I found a nearby tree and started climbing, then slowly stood up on one of the biggest branches I could find. I looked back to see the officer closing in on me, and I turned back towards the house of emotions. I ran on the branch, jumping off and over the fence. I fell with a thump and rolled through the neatly-cut grass, feeling the officer's feelings grow into a frustrated anger
"Get back here!"
I struggled to get to my feet, wanting to just lay there in victory. But I wasn't clear yet
The man pulled out his gun
GET UP
YOU'RE GONNA GET SHOT LIKE A DOG
YOU'RE GONNA DIE LIKE A DOG
"NO!" I yelled, and the man froze
I watched him for a moment, the man just standing there like time was frozen. I took the chance and ran towards the large house. I found a wall covered by three large doors. I banged on the windowpanes of the doors "Help! Let me in!"
I turned but didn't see him. Looking back inside the house I saw a tall man walking through the hall. I pounded on the glass and yelled "Let me in!"
He looked at me, but just continued
"PLEASE! He's gonna kill me!" I pleaded, not even sure if it was truth
He still ignored me
"Help me! Please help!"
You're gonna die
How's that hot dog sounding now huh?
We told you to stay inside
Suddenly another man showed up, he was shorter and rounder. The two spoke and I could tell the second man was wondering who I was
"Please help!" I cried
"Who is she?"
The first man replied grudgingly "Just some vagrant"
I looked back at the police officer and saw him sputtering about, like he just woke up from a dream
"PLEASE HELP ME!"
The second man turned to the first "Brunski"
"What?"
He sighed and walked over, the second man had a softer heart. "What's wrong miss?"
"He's gonna kill me" I whispered "Please you gotta let me in, you gotta let me in!"
He nodded and opened the door, I rushed in and started running towards the opposite hallway so the cop wouldn't see me
"Who the hell are you?" The Brunski man snapped grabbing my arms harshly
"I-I" Should I say I don't know? Should I say Jane? Or what about that... Seraphina?
My head started pounding the moment I thought of that name. My heart was like a war drum and I could feel my blood thumping through every part of me
"What the hell?"
I yowled in pain feeling like I was just hit with a sledge hammer
"Get her sedated"
