My eyes flew open and I turned my head towards my digital alarm clock. My eyes widened as I saw what time it was; noon, and it was Monday; and the high school, (including mine and brothers grade) had exams today.

"Shit!" I yelled as I jumped out of bed. Why didn't anyone wake me up?! I flew into my brothers room to see he was snoring away. I threw a pillow at him screaming, "wake up, wake up!"

"What the fuck is your problem Luna?!" He growled at me.

"River, We have exams today and it's noon!!! May I remind you that we aren't aloud to retake them and this is the first one so it counts the most part of our final grade?" I rambled on.

That got him. "What why didn't anyone wake us up???" He said as he started rumbling through his draws looking for something to wear.

I didn't answer as I ran back to my room to rush, well, everything.

I threw on my 2012 Volleyball shirt, some leggings, and moccasins. Then I ripped the brush through my hair, (yes, it was VERY painful) and did loose curls, I applied my mascara, and concealer, (yeah... I'm not a makeup girl) then screamed; "ARE YOU READY YET?!" To my brother,

"WAITING FOR YOU DIPSHIT!!" My oh so nice brother replied. I rolled my eyes and ran downstairs.

"Well, then come on!"

••

Thank god exams didn't start until 12:30 the first day. I made it into the exam classroom with five minutes to spare.

"You're late, miss Luna..." The teacher said, raising his eyebrows at me.

"I know, I know. I'm SO sorry!! My alarm clock didn't go off."

He waved me off and started the exam.

••

"So, how'd you do?"

I turned my head and saw Cole walking next to me. I groaned. I had completely failed that test.

"I bombed it. Hopefully they'll let me retake it."

"I could help you study if you want."

I practically choked on my own fucking spit.

"You? You. Cole Chapman." I let out a short laugh. "Yeah, I'll pass."

He frowned. "I'm here on a scholarship, Luna."

My mouth dropped open. "Pretty boy's on a scholarship?! Do you even need a scholarship? I mean, your parents have got to be rich." I said, laughing my head off.

"You know what?" He said, scowling. "Forget about it. Forget I offered. I got to go."

It felt like my smile was slapped off my face. Did I go to far?

••

It had been two days since the little "argument" with Cole had happened, and I still couldn't stop thinking about it. Why the hell was he on a scholarship? Gosh, I was so confused.

'Bing!'

Come 2 the big tree outside ur y4d where we usd 2 ply. Ned 2 tlk.

So he has spoken. I sighed and threw on some sneakers and went outside. Sure enough, he was standing there, waiting for me.

He paced back and forth. "Okay, here's the thing. Remember when we stopped talking and I started..."

"Bullying me? Yeah, I Remember." I said, my voice getting quiet.

"My mom had died in labor when she was giving birth to my little sister, Zoe." He said, his voice cracking. "My dad turned to drugs, and eventually left us. I was old enough to get a job as a babysitter or something, I was twelve, so I started to call around hoping for someone who would let me. Luck was on my side, because apparently this town is short babysitters AND dog sitters. I got paid a lot, and could actually pay off bills and stuff using my moms name. I used the left over money to buy food, clothes, and other nessecaitys that Zoey and I needed to survive. We don't have TV, or electronics, or any of that shit. Another problem was, was that I needed to get into a good high school to get into a decent college on a scholarship. I've been a straight A student since sixth grade." He said, and smiled at me. "Zoe's six now. Well, almost six. Her birthdays tomorrow. I was hoping to throw her a birthday party, but we just don't have enough money." He said and looked down.

Before I knew what was coming out of my mouth, I shouted "I'll pay for it!"

Shit.

"No, Lu I can't ask you to do that."

Lu.

He called me Lu. And for some reason, that put butterflies in my stomach.

I cleared my throat. (No Going back now) "I'm doing it. No question, don't try to get me to change my mind. We're having the party this Saturday. Just invite a shit ton of people, we'll have it in your backyard, it's big enough, and I'll take care of the rest."

He groaned, but he couldn't stop smiling and I could tell he was happy about this. "Fine. On one condition... I have to go with you to buy everything. And, I have to help bake and decorate."

I grinned. "Deal." I said as we shook hands. "I'm hoping you're a good baker, because we're making our own cake pretty boy."

•••

I was laughing. Laughing truly. I didn't have a fake smile, this was the first time in months this had happened. And it felt so good. The cause? Cole Chapman.

Ok guys I'm really fucking pissed off. I added like 2000 words to this chapter, I was about to publish it, but then wattpad fucking deleted it. Last time I tried to update, it did the same thing. I'm done. Fuck you wattpad.
