When we were finished, I heard the music thumping below. People had started to arrive, and we hadn't even noticed.
"I guess we should go down. Your party has started, and you're not even there". I mentioned with a slight sadness. I wanted to repeat the last hour all over again, but I also didn't want someone going looking for Cale and finding us doing god knows what.
"Trust me, my party started a while ago." He rolled back on top of me, mauling my neck.
"I'm serious", I managed to say between fits of laughter, managing to push Cale off of me. "Let's go. There is champagne with my name on it waiting for me."
"Fine", Cale started as he grabbed his swimming trunks, pulling them on. I felt a burning sensation in my legs, and I forced myself to look away before the feeling got any worse. "Don't think a hangover is going to get you out of tomorrow." Cale said, making the wonderful sensation disappear.
"Wouldn't dream of it." I said to myself through gritted teeth as Cale disappeared into the hallway. I got changed into my swimsuit, pulled on a short coverup and headed downstairs.
When I arrived in the kitchen, I was immediately greeted by a server with a tray. "Ardorve?"
I looked at the tiny cracker with caviar on top and shrugged."ok" I knew I would need food in my stomach for the number of drinks that would be going into my body today. I walked outside through the large white double doors and headed towards the bar area. A tall man wearing a black dress shirt (and let me tell you, he wore it well) greeted me.
"What can I get you beautiful?"
"Something strong. surprise me." He nodded and started pouring ingredients together, and I had a flashback of the times Michies would make me drinks. I turned around and scanned the area, hoping to maybe see Michie, but instead, I just saw a sea of people - many lounging and even more in the pool. It was barely 6 pm, and the number of drinks already consumed could probably fill an Olympic swimming pool. There must be at least 100 people here, and more would show up throughout the evening.
"So how do you know the birthday boy?" the bartender asked me as he handed me my drink, bringing me back to the present. I looked at the blue liquid and took a sip. It was strong, but tasty. I took another sip.
"Like it? It's a specialty from when I lived in Hawaii. The colour is supposed to represent the sea, like your eyes." I tried to hide my blush behind a larger gulp.
"Thank you. And to answer your earlier question, I'm dating the birthday boy." Best to get that out of the way before testosterone-filled Cale finds out and world war three happens.
"Really?" He asked, and I stared at him, taken aback. His reaction was not what I was expecting.
I looked at him, confused. "Why?" I asked with force.
"It's just...I didn't mean..."
"Clearly you mean something by it, or you wouldn't have said it." I interrupted impatiently, waiting for his answer.
"I just saw him looking chumy with someone that definitely wasn't you."
"Who was it?" I stated with a stern face.
"Her, wearing the blue thing bikini and long hair." He nodded in the direction of the pool, and my blood started to boil.
Before I could retaliate, I heard a familiar voice over the noise of laughter. It sounded more cheerful than usual and I knew who it must be.
