Chapter 1

      My sleep was interrupted by my older sister barging in my room, "Get up and Get ready, #3!$@." She replied to my groaning. She flipped on my lights and left the door open. I laid back down for a few seconds before getting up and closing the door. I got ready as my mother dropped off my older sister at her high-school. I went to Middle school with my younger sister. I am an 8th grader and she was a 6th grader.

After getting ready and getting out of the house we sat in the car as our mother drove us to our school.

"Y'know I love you girls." My mum suddenly spoke up, I flinched at the 'girl' part. It was annoying how it was only 7:00 AM and she was going to leave us outside in the cold in-front of the school. I do love her, but I woke up at 5:00 AM. I think I have a right to be tired.

Mum has to drive 'across town' as she says, but it's not that far. I went with her before, It was a bit far but not too far like she said.

Mum dropped us off, we picked up our things and went to wait outside the school. My younger sister talked to me while she was on her phone, I replied sometimes but I mostly stared out into space.

I started messing around with my key necklace as I talked with my little sister. I made the necklace myself, from the key jar I had at home. It was a big jar of keys, the one I made into a necklace was the biggest one.

The teachers finally opened the gate at 7:32 so we could stand in the quad, but school still didn't start until 8:00 AM.

So most of the kids waited by the doors of their grades. At 7:50 though, they let us go into our hallways to our lockers.

I quickly went to my locker, getting the stuff I needed for the day and putting away anything I didn't need. My first period was algebra, I wasn't good at anything along the lines of that. So my grades weren't that great. I mostly ended up spacing out in that class anyways, all I knew right now is that it was Wednesday.

I sat at my desk not listening to the teacher talking, he didn't even know how to explain correctly. I looked over to the side seeing Emily in the corner of the room, watching me with her creepy smile.

Emily looks like a person but a shadow with stretched out blank white eyes and a terrifying smile. She had sharp teeth, I hated when she smiled. I looked back at the worksheet on my desk that the teacher handed out. I copied the answers once he did the problems, then I stared back into space.

I wanted to go home, talk to my little sister or hang out with my mother do anything other then being in this stupid algebra class. I did basically nothing until it was time to clean up. I put all my things away, then walked out the door with my friend to our second period together, that was P.E.

We got there barely in time, we got dressed then went to the gym. The P.E teacher started to explain the game we were playing as they split us in teams. The game was where we wore flags around your waist, tried to knock down other's pins, you could get 'tagged' anywhere and would have to sit out. It was also in the dark.

I was afraid of the dark, even if it wasn't pitch black, it still made me scared. I really wanted to go home. Emily likes the dark and would do anything to scare the crap out of me.

My friend I walked with didn't care, she shook it off that I was so scared I almost started crying.

My other friend tried to comfort me by holding my hand as the game went by though, she was really nice like that. I don't know how she dealt with me, because I talked rapidly, me being loud and hyperventilating.

I get loud and make jokes when I'm scared. Most of the time I do that, other times I keep my mouth shut.

Once me and my friend got out we sat on the sidelines on the floor. She laid her head on my shoulder, I smiled under my mask. I then went to look around for Emily just to be safe.
