It was morning again, always my favorite time of the day. Things felt different this morning, as it felt more peaceful than it was the past week or so. With the Great Zapfish back in its place on top of Deca Tower, and Callie found and rescued from Octavio's grasp, the quest to save Inkopolis was officially complete. I kind of wished it would've lasted a little longer, but I heard that there were going to be training courses built where the Octarian bases were, so I still had plenty to do while I was over there.
I went to the S.F.C.N.Y's HQ that morning and went straight to the front balcony. It gave an incredible view of Inkopolis Square as well as Octo Canyon off in the distance. Things were just beginning to pick up, and I knew that there was going to be some sort of celebration soon. More importantly, though, I knew Marie and Callie were going to be somewhere in Octo Canyon soon, and today was the day I'd see them in Tentakeel Outpost for likely the final time. Why? Well, my duty was officially complete. I had nothing else I needed to do to save the world. I was fine with going back every once in a while, but now I think I know what I want to do in the future. I was hoping the master will allow it...
I was eventually joined by Ally, who I could now call my saving grace. I somehow felt that we had synergy together all of a sudden, not only because of how we worked together in the battle against Octavio, but also because we both have a relation to the New Squidbeak Splatoon, and we were part of the same team as well. Everything seemed to click off for us as soon as it was over, even back at the outpost after the fight was over. The person who I thought had replaced me at the S.F.C.N.Y. was actually someone with a lot of heart and talent, which was exceptional for our group.
"So, how's it feel to be a hero?" she asked me.
I thought about it for a moment. "I feel... accomplished," I said eventually. "I feel like I finally did something with my life after a long time. It felt good to get out for once."
"Yeah, it's good when you get to go out there and take on something new," she said. "I guessing you enjoyed Octo Canyon?"
"Well, more or less," I said. "Other than the fact that I could finally get experience, the Octarians are just dirty in a lot of ways. I'm sure you know the example I'm going to give..."
"Mmm..." said Ally. "Listen, I did want to apologize if it felt like I was more or less replacing you at the club. I didn't intend to do that. I just wanted to be loyal to the master."
"It's alright. I get that," I said. "He was always a good guy, but I guess he felt like putting more priority over you than he did me. I certainly wasn't mad at you. All I wanted was more time out on the field..."
"Hmm..." said Ally. "Well, I'm going to ask him about that today, and hopefully we can come to a resolution and get you out more. Would you like that?"
"I'd love that," I said. "Especially with you and me on the field together... We could do almost anything!"
"Hehehe!" Ally chuckled. "You know you're a lot of fun to talk to, Farris?"
I looked over at her as she smiled at me with that wonderful smile of hers. It reminded me a lot of the squid sisters and, paired with her glowing eyes, it made her look precious in our group. That was Agent 3 for you - the one with all the talent in the world and the perfect look to go with it. Too bad she's not without issue, otherwise she'd be the perfect inkling in all of the town.
"So," she said after a short pause. "Want to head back to Octo Canyon one last time? See how the Squid Sisters are doing now?"
"Yeah! Let's do it!" I said, excited to see them one last time before we went our separate ways. Marie was the one who I wanted to talk to the most. She had to be feeling better now that all the weight of Callie and the Great Zapfish was lifted off her back.
