Eda had put her scurf on to hide her witchy ears. She then looked at Sam.
"Okay do you have any idea of what part of England we should start at?" Eda asked. Sam closed her eyes thinking about it.
"Heart, don't fail me now. Courage, don't desert me." Sam had whispered to herself thinking really really hard.
"A castle....very big....very easy to get lost in...." Sam said opening her eyes looking at Eda. Eda nodded knowing what Sam was talking about. Eda hit the button on her key and opened up the portal to just outside the castle walls. Sam took a deep breath and walked into the portal. Eda followed closely behind her. Sam blinked looking up at the big castle. She could recall the door patterns. She remembered being scared of them...only she didn't know why. Sam reached over and opened the door going inside."Don't turn back now that we're here.
People always say
Life is full of choices.
No one ever mentions fear
Or how the world can seem so vast
On a journey to the past."
Sam had looked around the castle. She remembered parts of some of the hallways. She could remember small pieces like running down the hallway holding some dresses. From her time as a lady in waiting. She walked around looking all over. Eda followed her closely. Sam blinked and went to a hallway. She gasped and jumped back. Somebody that looked like her ran down the hall crying out.
"Henry! Listen to me! It's me! Please?!" But that person was a ghost. As if the place was being haunted by Sam herself. Eda saw that to. So the thing Lilith told her of a former queen haunting a castle. Was real...but if so why did that queen..... Eda was starting to piece together parts of Sam's past. Sam had went to the jewels room and walked inside it next. She saw an old crown. Her old crown. She took a deep breath and picked it up. Soon her brain had flash backs. First up was as a kid what her music teacher did to her. Then how her parents reacted when they found out about it. Then her boss. Then how she was forced to marry a king. Then....no it couldn't be...if that is true...how was she....? Sam stuffed the crown into her dress but it fallen out. Eda walked over and given Sam a bag she found outside and put the crown into it. Sam put the bag over her shoulder and took a deep breath. She reached one hand up for the choker. Another hand she held up. She had to know if it was true. She took off the choker and caught her head as it fallen off. Sam started crying all that pain....her death.....Eda had carefully reached over to help Sam put her head on. But Sam flinched and pulled away. Eda just backed up giving Sam her space. Sam put the choker and her head back on.
"I need to go to the tower of London next..." Sam said quickly trying to steady her breathing. Eda blinked slowly at that. She heard Lilith say something about it once. That it was famous for....then it clicked in. Sam's beheading place. She saw how Sam was reacting.
"I think that is enough for today. We can do it another day..." Eda said calmly. Sam shook her head.
"N-no I need to see it today. I know if I don't....I can't make peace with what happened to me....a-and....I don't think I can bring myself to do it at a later date...." Eda nodded agreeing to it.
"Okay but if it gets to much. Let me know." She lead Sam out of the castle and towards the tower. When they gotten there Sam looked up at the big building. It was still as scary to her then as it was when she was first taken there all them years ago. But what do you expect? She was just sixteen and suffered a life of abuse at the hands of man and even her parents. The only peace she gotten the day of her death was that nobody could hurt her anymore. She walked around the outside of it and saw the place where it took place. Sam walked over to the steps and looked up at it. It was just a wooden platform with nothing on it. But Sam could see the block as if it was laying there in front of her. Sam's knees shook and buckled. She grabbed the railing for support. Eda reached a hand out for her but Sam shook her head. She had to do this. Eda nodded backing up letting Sam take her time with this. Sam used the railing for support. And made her way up the steps. She stood up on it and looked out towards Eda. But her mind saw all the people from back then. People that called her mean things. Such as 'good time girl.' When Sam wasn't that at all. She was just an abused kid. Who was used for power even knowing if her past ever came to life. She would be up there. Sam was supposed to be tortured for betraying the king and keeping her past a secret. But a friend of Sam's one of her ladies in waiting Jenny had paid extra to get it so Sam would be beheaded. Only like most beheadings it went wrong. The guy who did it at first missed her neck and gotten the ax stuck in Sam's back. Sam's knees shook reliving that part and her legs given out under her. She ended up falling to her knees. Eda quickly ran up the stairs and over to Sam.
"Let's get you out of here." Sam nodded and held out her hand to Eda needing up. Eda grabbed her hand and helped Sam up. She then helped Sam down the stairs and away from that place. Soon they went into the portal back to the owl house.
