Chapter 8: Dad, I missed you!!!
Lights, lights, and more really bright lights into my eyes as I am awoken by some dark figures. Can't see, blinded by the lights that are making my eyes burn as if I have been looking into the sun for a long time. Even though I'm still in a haze I begin to hear a familiar deep male voice "Good Morning Son?"
My heart began to sink since my dad has been away for almost three years in Iraq. "Dad?! You came back?!" Sadly it was only a dream. Which I wish never ended. But I did, in a hardly easy way. I was being shook. I was shook by a security gaurd of the park that I fainted in after reading the letter from Michael.
"Hey kid?! What you doing here?" The security asked as he shook me and stepped back as he saw my hand go into my pocket. I was only looking to make sure I had the pictures and the letter. I did.
"Ummm I'm sorry. I think I fainted, do you know what time it is?" I replied as I began standing up, using the tree as leverage. Then my phone fell out of my pocket and hit the ground. I was glad my phone was not stolen. But when I pickes it up, I noticed that there was fifteen missed calls from my mother, and four from a private number.
"Hey kid are you okay? Do you think you will be needing a ride home? I can..." He added as he saw me struggling to get up.
"No No I'm alright. I can walk home" I cut him off before he finished. "Thank you though." I added as I looked at the time to see since he never told me. It was only 7 in the evening so I was able to walk home I live pretty close and I needed some time to think and call my mom and pretend I was walking back from practice.
"Thank you again Mr...... Michael" I said as I began reading his name tag. Then I turned around to walk away.
"Its Andrew, You sure you gonna be ok? And you are very welcome. Get home safely." He said with a soft voice. As he turned around and walked the other way I began to question myself. "Why did I see Michael? His name want even close. Maybe I'm just tired.
I shook my head as I was waking home passed the school trying to wake myself up as I pulled out my phone to call my mom. I then unlocked my phone and then I began to dial get number. It rings only once and then "where are you? Why don't you answer? Do I always have to worry?"
I took another deep breath while she was still yelling at me through the phone, but I understand her worry, I still am worried about Michael. Where is he, how far is he? Will I ever see him again.
"I'm sorry mom, time got the best of me. You know how I get when I sing. Plus there were allot of new people that needed help so I couldn't leave. And we had a watcher like someone from the big art colleges. I think she liked me though. She was staring at me allot especially when I began to sing the solo parts. Maybe my dream will come true and I'll have a chance to preform." I lied through my teeth. Im glad my mom was not the kind to call the police if i didn't answer or come home for a night.
"You still should of called, But I get it, I remember being in college and... You know the stories. Well get home already, its getting cold outside. And dinner is ready." My mother replied with worry in her voice.
"I know, you and that spot light, ok will I'm two houses away. What you make for dinner? I'm starving" I asked in excitement.
"Well if you will be able to smell it before you walk up to the door son" she replied with that motherly attitude 'your favorite but I'm not telling you'. Abd
I begin to sniff the air as I begin to walk closer to the house as the wind carried my mothers coming. "Angel chef" that's what I call her because of her hands that cook everything that makes food that makes you hungry even if you just ate a pizza to yourself. 'Yes I speak from experience' Then I smell the most amazing smell, "mmmmmm yum my favorite dish." I go up the walk way to the house and see a different car in the drive way. "Dad" I think to my self?.....
