Prologue

Audrey Marshall had an almost perfect life.  Lots  of friends, perfect grades, and a supportive, albeit incomplete family.  But behind closed doors, closed and locked for that matter, there was a whole different side to her. A side that wasn't as bubbly and fun loving as the persona she adopted in Beacon Hills.

Audrey was born to two loving parents with the names of  Hayley Marshall and Klaus Mikealson.
Although her parents tried their hardest to protect her from the violence and chaos of the supernatural world, being a Mikealson is dangerous. Which led to a tough decision being made. Not just difficult for Audrey but for her parents and those who loved and adored her too.  A month before kindergarten started Audrey moved into her mother's foster sister, Claudia Stillinski and her husband Noah's home.  It was a rough adjustment, especially with her aunt Claudia's socially awkward and oddly pale son who was the same age as her added to the mix.  But as she grew and entered middle school and high school they didn't hesitate to call each other brother and sister.

When Audrey was 13, on her anual Christmas break trip back to New Orleans, Gerard and Kate Argent, along with some of their fellow hunters, drove a white oak stake into her fathers, uncle Elijah's, uncle Finn's, Uncle Kol's, and Aunt Rebekah's hearts and promptly shut them in boxes. They left behind a single threat, "If you come for us, we'll finish off the rest of you" When Kate Argent spat those words at Hayley Labonair's vervain and wolfsbane filled body she knew that if she were to even try to get her family back that it would end badly for her daughter. Klaus would never forgive her.

As time went on, she stopped asking her uncle to visit New Orleans and stopped trying to make an effort to call home every day. Going home meant hearing the lack of laughter and noise her large family often brought. And the calls home only brought the noise of her mothers broken shell of a voice to her ears.

Being a first generation Mikealson witch comes with its own set of hardships. With both her mother and father not being witches, it was up to her aunt Freya to teach her control of her abilities. However, the power her body exhibited often became too much for her to handle, which led to a special bracelet being made that held the power to stop Audreys abilities all together while it was being worn. It wasn't very often that anyone who knew her would see her not wearing it. The bracelet gave her what she wanted most, to be utterly and completely normal.

With the help of her friends, family, enemies, and even her basically estranged mother, Audrey will have the most interesting semester yet.

Hello everyone, this is my first story. If there's any spelling or grammar mistakes that bother you throughout the chapters please make sure to let me know so I can fix it! I encourage everyone to react to anything they have strong feelings (good or bad) for to let me know how to make the story better. Just so you know, vampires will not be touched on that much throughout the story. Klaus and Hayley are still hybrids, and the mikealson family are still vampires.
