This story starts five years earlier. When this man,
And this man:
They both volunteered at Camp Crystal Lake as camp counselors for children during the following summer. What they endure there was far more tragic than what they are about to experience. That's a story for another time.
Our story today began just like any other. A young, happy couple in love. Planning for their future until an unexpected turn of events would test the strength of their desires and their relationship.
Let's explore the story of this young couple and their journey into the unknown.

Present Day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~As everyone gathered outside the small church, Vanderohe, and Dieter both stood off to the side as the newlywed couple gathered around their close family, friends, and the church caretakers for the photographer to take their picture. After the picture was taken, everyone scattered heading back to their cars, while others stayed and continued to congratulate the couple.
Once all the congratulations were in order, Scott Ward walked over to Vanderohe and patted him on the back.
"Well buddy, we finally did it." Scott gleamed happily.
"Yes, you guys did. Congratulations, man. You two have been interoperable since Dr. Williams's Refresher Course. Even knows that Maria is a wonderful little cook."
"To tell you Vanderohe, that was the only reason why I showed up." As they continued to talk, all the women gathered around, waiting for Maria to throw her black and blue bouquet.
"Alright ladies, this is it. Time to throw the bouquet." She turned around and listened to the women yell over each other. Maria counted to the count of three, timing the throwing of the bouquet.
As the women continued to yell and push each other, Maria threw the bouquet, but it didn't land near any of the girls. They watched as it flew past over their heads and landed in Dieter's arms. Everyone turned around, cheering and clapping.
"Well, it looks like it's your turn next. Huh?" Scott slightly tapped him on the shoulder and went back to his bride. Vanderohe stood there amazed and in deep thought.
After everyone had left, it was time for the pastor and the caretakers to set up for the next event that was to take place: A funeral.
Dieter walked over to Vanderohe, tightly holding on to the bouquet. "Oh, V, didn't Maria look radiant. Just a few hours ago, she was badass Maria Cruz and now she's Mrs. Scott Ward."
"Yes, Diet. Scott's a pretty lucky guy. Perhaps next he'll be line for a promotion in a year or two."
"I truly wish them all the luck in the world."
"Me too." There was a silence for a few moments until Vanderohe spoke again. "I have something I can't say to you, but not sure how to tell you."
"Yes, Vanderohe?"
"Take a walk with me. I want to show you something."
"Ok." Vanderohe took Dieter's hand and led him to a small area in the woods behind the church. Once almost there, Dieter couldn't believe his eyes. He turned around and looked lovingly at Vanderohe. "You did all this, for me?"
"Yes, I did." Vanderohe got down on one knee and pulled the ring he bought out and placed it on his finger. "Will you marry me?"
"Yes. Yes." Dieter leaped for joy and jumped on Vanderohe, giving him a sweet, passionate kiss. "Let's go."
They walked over to where Vanderohe had prepared a picnic for just the two of them.
