Take Good Care

Closer

Lou ordered some Chinese take in for her, Lux, the boys, and I at her house. We all lounged around the living room watching a popular British movie. As soon as I sat down on a couch with Lux, Harry immediately sat down next to us. Lou told me Harry was very attached to Lux and took care of her a lot, but I had no idea he would be near her this much. Why was I even here if Harry seemed to want the nanny job more than me? 

Zayn, Liam, and Louis sat on another couch while Niall sat on the floor near Harry, Lux and I. Lou was in the kitchen grabbing a chair for herself to put in the living room.

"I'll feed Lux her noodles." Harry declared to me. I gave him a weird look. 

"Um, I'm the nanny so I think it's my job but, thanks." I forced a smile while responding to Harry. Harry shrugged his shoulders and scrunched his eyebrows, as if he had offered me the winning lotto ticket and I rejected it. 

"Do you mind if we call you Dom?" Louis asked kindly.

"Sure, no problem. Most people call me it." I said. The boys smiled while looking at me.

"So we heard about your little adventure arriving to Tom and Lou's." Niall said boldly. Oh great. Another reminder of my freak coincidence. 

"Oh yeah, tell us about that one, won't you Dom." Harry said with a smirk on his face. Was he finding amusement at my misfortune? I explained all the details of the story to them, and when I told them about kicking the driver in his groin, the boys applauded me.

"Cool but I guess we better take it easy with you." Zayn said as he chuckled.

I noticed Lux was not eating any of her dinner. Lou suggested I take her in the kitchen and put her in her high chair alone so she wasn't distracted by anything. Lux still wouldn't budge after numerous attempts of me trying to put food in her mouth: and so, I bargained with her.

"I'll dance if you eat your dinner!" I said desperately, starting to move my arms and clap while moving my hips. Lux clapped as I put a spoonful in her mouth. This was going to work, but it was going to take a lot of effort. 

I remembered Lou told me Lux lit up whenever she heard anything by Olly Murs. I turned on the radio in their kitchen, and Olly's single Dance With Me Tonight came on. Lux's eyes opened wide in glee as she clapped her hands together. I started to move around as I fed her spoonfuls, one becoming easier after the other. Once Lux was almost done and eating the last bits with her fingers, I encouraged her further with my silly dance moves to reward her. I clapped my hands and swayed my hips, twirling around. I grabbed her hands over the high chair and started to swing them. She laughed and jumped around in her seat. This song was extremely catchy and upbeat, and I immediately became lost in it. I sang to Lux and she started to laugh harder and point behind me. I quickly dismissed it thinking she was just pointing at me, but as I twirled around, Harry was dancing behind me, clearly enjoying himself. I immediately froze in embarrassment as my eyes expanded. 

"Continue! You're a lovely dancer. I couldn't help myself, the scene was just too adorable. Mind if I join?" Harry asked cutely. He held out his hand. I looked down at it as a smile escaped my lips, and I put my hand in his. He raised his arm, gesturing me to twirl under our entwined arms. He then grabbed my other hand and shimmied with me, moving his feet and shoulders to the beat. He continued to twirl me and stepped closer and closer to me, grabbing my waist and spinning me. Lux jumped around in her seat clapping her hands. And then, Harry suddenly dipped me to the floor, holding the middle of my back in his strong, muscular arm. He held my hand in his other hand, and his face was inches away from mine. I stared into his dark green eyes searching for who he was and what was on his mind at this very moment. He stared back into my light brown eyes and long eyelashes, then glancing at my lips. I looked at his pink, heart shaped lips as my heart fluttered. What was going on?

I then quickly turned my head looking towards the doorway as I heard "woo hoo's!" and claps from our audience. Everyone was staring at us, on their toes waiting for us to make the next move. Everyone seemed to have a joyful smile on their face, laughing. But Niall had a forced smile on his face with jealousy and resentfulness buried under, clearly for some reason. Harry stood up straight and helped me up from my dip. He tossed his brown curls as I fixed my long brown waves.

"Ten out of ten!" Lou said, grading our performance. 

"Magnificent! Be sure to use those moves in the next few shows, Haz!" Louis said enthusiastically. 

"Where have you been hiding these skills, Harry?" Liam laughed mischievously. 

Harry and I laughed at our spectators. I got Lux out of her high chair and praised her for being such a good, big girl to eat all of her dinner. 

"Aw, Dom you're fantastic with her already. She loves you. That was so amazing of you to go to those lengths to get her to eat." Lou said sweetly to me.

"It was no problem I'm just glad she ate while enjoying herself, clearly." I said cooly.

"Alright well I'm going to give her a bath now since it will be one of my last since the tour is coming up so soon. Dom, show the boys out and help them gather their things. Oh and boys, bring some take in home with you! I love you all and I'll see you tomorrow morning!" Lou said, hugging each of the boys and I. 

As she carried Lux up the stairs, I gathered the boy's belongings for them to claim. Louis, Zayn, and Liam gave me each a hug goodbye as they headed out the door and were ecstatic to be back on tour starting tomorrow. The three of them told me they couldn't wait to spend more time with me, and wished me a good night. 

Harry and Niall remained in the house. The silence in the room was quite awkward, and so I decided to break it. I started small chat with the boys about the tour and flight tomorrow. They were both excited, but there was still something strange in the air. The boys stood in silence for a minute or two as I cleaned up. They both offered to help, competeing with one another to clean off the table for me. 

"Ok, I guess I'm going to go home now, bye, Dom. Have a good sleep. And thanks for dancing with me." Harry hugged me in a tight embrace for a while, and when I unlatched myself from him, he held onto my hand and winked. I smiled back at him, unsure of his motives. 

Niall quickly stepped in and hugged me goodbye, rubbing in how excited he was to spend more time with me. And the boys. Harry squinted his eyes at him as his mouth formed a tight line. Both boys walked out the door, stealing one last glance at me. They both shoved each other a bit going down the walkway. I smiled and waved goodbye, shutting the door behind them.

I felt I needed a shower to cleanse myself of all the tension between Niall and Harry. I also needed to figure out what exactly Harry and Niall were up to. Only time would tell with these two odd boys. I would have to prepare myself for the long flight tomorrow morning, and for all the time I would be spending with these new people in my life. Things were about to get complicated.
