No matter how delightful the weather was, or how breathakingly shiney the sun was, Anthony couldn't help but fume, enraged.
It wasn't his conduct to behave this way out in front of society, but what could he do when a man named Thomas Dorset has been shamelessly flirting with his wife for the past dreadful hours.
He was furious, his hands curled into fists, nose flaring up and jaws clenched, he was awaiting the moment he could throw a fistful of those hard bones at him. He couldn't wait.
"You alright, dear?" God bless his oblivious wife. He smiled through his gritted teeth.
"Sure. Why not, it's just too hot in here." He feigned loosing his collar.
Kate looked at him credulously, helping him loosen his buttons and touching his neck with the back of her hand, immediately calming his nerves.
"May I offer some fresh lemonade, Mrs. Bridgerton?" Again with this dumb man. Anthony groaned, earning a raised brow from his beloved.
"I'm good. Probably some for Anthony would be nice." She said, eyeing her husband concernedly.
"Are you sure you feel okay? You seem rather red."
"I'm good, my darling."
"Well in that case I guess he's perfectly capable of getting one for himself." Dorset remarked, almost spitting venom through his words.
Before Anthony could retort some words of wisdom to shut his mouth, Kate interrupted with a hard glare.
"Well I am very capable myself as well, if your shrunken mind thought I was not. So don't ever bother meddling your business with ours. Ever." She tutted her tongue over her teeth before grabbing Anthony's hand and walking away from the man.
Anthony stared at his wife, amused but not surprised, he knew she had this in her, and he very much fell in love with the same attributes.
"Stop staring." Kate scolded him, pouring a glass of lemonade, handing it over to the now so proud man. "I know what you're thinking."
"Yes?" Anthony took the glass off her hand, sipping into it slowly. "What is that exactly?"
"Well you were flushed in jealousy, but still, no man should have the audacity to degrade my husband in any way. No matter how silly."
This made the man splutter some of his drink out, coughing. Kate smirked, patting his back, then wiping his mouth with a napkin.
"You sure know me, darling."
"I wasn't named your viscountess just because."
Anthony tilted his head to the side, still smiling amusingly at his perfect bride. He could never get enough of her bravery, or her meticulousness.
"Sure. My lady."
