The feeling of dampness in between your legs startles you, and you gasp as you sit up."Jesus! I woke up right in time."
You take a moment to wake up, stopping your body from using the bed as a toilet and feeling around where you are on the bed.
You haven't moved much, still being on your side of the bed, and not on top of Mari like you usually are upon waking up, so it must still be early AM.
"Mari?"
Your whisper is met with nothing but light snores, and anxiety begins to stir within you as you contemplate what your next move will be.
You could try to hold it maybe? No, there's no way that you'll make it through the night with two large waters swimming in your bladder.
Mari was so tired after today... it'd be selfish of you to wake her for this.
Maybe you could manage on your own? The house isn't that big. Just turn right, and walk slightly left to the master bedroom, and then... a left? No, a right... yeah, a right to the bathroom.
I can do this.
I can't do this.
Fuck it, let's do it.
Quietly rotating your body, your feet connect with the carpet of the guest bedroom, and you take a deep breath before standing.
Despite not having any vision, your eyes are wide, almost like you're hoping you'll suddenly be able to see something, anything, out of them.
You reach to your left, letting out a breath as you find the nightstand.
You walk along it until you reach the edge, extending out to feel for the wall.
Okay, now forward some more.
You didn't think any boxes were left in the room, so when your foot connects with stiff cardboard, it takes everything in you not to scream.
"Good lord, that scared the crap out of me. God–"
You instantly stop breathing, as you hear movement behind you.
"B-Billie... hmm hey baby, come here."
You stand still as you hear the sound of fabric—she must've still been half-asleep, cause by the sound of it, she's cuddled up to a pillow thinking it's you.
You wait a few seconds before continuing your way out of the room, your stomach starting to shake from the urine begging to be released, and the way you're squeezing your muscles to keep it at bay.
Okay, doorway. I'm at the doorway.
You turn right, both arms reaching out to trail your fingertips along the narrow hallway.
Your pace picks up as you begin to feel pain in your lower abdomen, making a quick decision to try the left turn once reaching the end of the hall.
"Okay, where the fuck am I?"
The worst part of being a visually impaired individual, is the feeling of complete, empty space all around you. No walls, no counters, no guiding friends, canes, or dogs— just you, air, and the floor.
That feeling of walking nowhere hits you as you take five solid steps with no contact to your reaching hands.
I don't remember there being this much empty space when I walked through the house yesterday.
